any answers, i really want this solved..On your SQL Server, is TCP/IP enabled? You'll find this in the SQL Server Configuration Manager.

Alternatively, use the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration wizard.

Bottom LINE: a default installation of SQL 2005, 2008, or 2008 R2 has Named Pipes and TCP/IP disabled on all network interfaces. I wiwll have to check ill get back to you later, but thanks for the reply.Quote from: BluerjB on August 13, 2010, 09:52:08 AM

Solve : Laptop cannot find a network. Worked before. Other laptops can find the network.?

Answer»

This laptop with Windows usually could find networks. Then there was a system error. Something with \Windows\System that wouldn't even get it to the Windows loading screen. I fixed that. And now, it seems it cannot find available networks. The only network it can find is a 1394 connection, which is "CONNECTED, but Firewalled". The network I want to connect to is named "homenetwork". It has security with a WEP key.

I do not know what the problem is. The laptop does have the SWITCH on that allows it to find networks. (The symbol that looks like a RADIO tower)

The other laptop is loaded with Windows 7, and is connected to "homenetwork" just fine.

The DESKTOP, the computer that basically is in control of the network, also runs on Windows XP, with a Linksys router.

I'm not really sure if you need specs. But the specs in my profile are the specs for the desktop.

EDIT: Just tried to connect the Ethernet cord into the laptop. From what I could see, no Internet that way either.Have you tried restarting wirless zero configuration?STILL no luck.

Solve : Wireless Internet - having spikes/disconnects every minute or so...?

Answer»

Hi.

I'm running out of OPTIONS and ideas.

My wireless internet connection drops me of at least 1 a minute. It happens for 1-3sec and quickly returns to normal. It can sometimes be spikes where e.g. the game ping goes from 60 to 600-999 for 1-3 sec or a disconnect for 1-3 seconds. Both times - after the 1-3 sec - the internet returns to normal.

When I connect with a CABLE everything is fine. Have no spikes nor disconnects.

I've talking to my internet surplier (Telenor in Denmark) and they claim that my line works 110% and they can't detect any problems what so ever.

Thinking it was my wireless router (Zyxel P-2602HW-D1A) I replaced it, but didn't help.

I tried connecting my own netgear N150 to see if it helped - but WEIRD enough the problem wasn't gone.

I've tried with 2 other computer on my network, and they had the same problem. A HP computer and a Mac. I got an Acer myself.

I tried switching the channel of the wireless. I did a search and FOUND the following 10 wireless profiles on these channels.

channel 11 - 48%
channel 9 - 99% (my own wireless router)
channel 1 - 60%
channel 7 - 28%
channel 13 - 21%
channel 11 - 35%
channel 1 - 25%
channel 1 - 20%¨
channel 6 - 23%
channel 6 - 31%

(This variate each time I do the search - I guess their routers are on "auto" when it comes to finding the channel.)

I set mine on channel 9 to be as "alone" as possible. Didn't help.

I also tried setting it to a static ip instead of automatically. Didn't help.

Trying (suggestions from Telenor supporter) using googles DNS adress - but didn't help.

My routers software is up-to-date along with my Intel Wi-fi.

I'm out of ideas and would be more that gratefull for someone who got a suggestion on how to fix it.

I got an Acer Aspire 6930g with Vista 32 bit.

If you have any questions at all fire away.

Really hope you can be of assist.

Kinds regards, ChristianSet a DMZ address on the router, then use this address as the IP address on whatever game console your'e using or PC. when asked for a default gateway, just use the normal IP address for your router for both the default gateway and the DNS server, that should fix you right upHave you tried a different model of router? Zyxel doesn't sound like a known brand name...

Also, how far is your computer away from the wireless router?

Are you running any cordless phones or other wireless devices on the 2.4 GHz frequency?

Are there any THICK brick or concrete WALLS between the router and the PC?Sorry for the late respond. I've been on vacation.

Yes, I've tried other routers even a n300 signal router from Netgear - same problem.

I'm sitting right next to the router - theres about 1 meter to the router.

No, but I did a search and found 12-15 other wireless network in the area. A guy told me, that my problem could be the many wireless connections nearby.

I don't know what to do.

Thanks for your reply...

Solve : adding a print server (HP Jetdirect 175X) to a wireless router (Netgear WGR614)?

Answer»

I just purchased an HP LaserJet 1200 that came with a Jetdirect 175X PRINT server. I've tried to add it to my existing Netgear WGR614 wireless router with no luck. The print server is detected on the router and vice versa; the print server is also able to generate a test page through the printer. However, when I go into the router ADMIN, the print server is not shown, even after a ipconfig/release and renew. Needless to say, the printer is not detected by my computer. Any ideas are much appreciated!Quote from: focusbiz on August 15, 2010, 12:17:16 PM

Solve : Linking Computers?

Answer»

Hi there,

I have a laptop running windows 7 and a desktop running xp. I would like to know if I can acces the desktop via my laptop and use the desktop as if I was sitting at the desktop. I am not sure about the proper terminology and I hope that I have explained what I am after ok.

The desktop is connected directly to the wireless router and the laptop is connect only via the wireless router.

If you need more information please let me know and I will provide any further details.

RegardsI'm not sure about W7 but XP has a utility in the Accessories folder called "Remote Desktop Connection". You must know the IP ADDRESS of the computer you want to control to access it with this utility.

Alan <>
Any idea how I find the IP address?

After finding the IP address what do I need to do next.Open a command prompt and type: ipconfig and press enterI would not use Remote Desktop Connection for this purpose. What you need to do is enable File Sharing is Windows XP; that will allow the laptop to see the folders and/or files you've marked for File Sharing is Windows XP.

REFERENCE: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304040Remote Desktop does not always work correctly (my experience).
One of problems is with a Cold Start of the Router. Example: If the Wireless Laptop is on top of the ARP stack and the rest (hardwired PC's) are on the bottom, then at (cold) re-start the ARP stack could be cleared and the hardwired ones will have a new Internal IP-address, while the Wireless ones will fall on the bottom, throwing the IPs of the Remote Desktop out of whack.
One way of dealing with that is to assign a Static IP to the PC's, but that defeats the whole purpose.

As SOYBEAN says: The proper way of dealing with this problem is to "enable Filesharing".

By the way: Remote Desktop does not work anyways for Windows 2000 and below. Thanks for the advice

I think I will not WORRY about the remote desktop thing.

Just one last question....

How do I SET up the desktop to print to the printer attached to the laptop?

I assume you have a non-wireless printer.
Then in your case:
-plug in the printer into the Desktop instead, resolve any issue to make sure you can print you can print from the Desktop. Print a "test page".
-now try to print from your laptop. The Laptop will search for an available printer. Then resolve issues such as "add a printer" and "Default Printer". You should not have any problems printing a "test page".

Now you can print anywhere from your Wireless Laptop, without having a printer attached to it, provided the Desktop is up and running.

Solve : You Tube isn't showing my uploaded videos to my subscribers!?

Answer»

I uploaded a video yesterday and today, but no one is receiving them. The videos are showing that they are completely uploaded. I should have a lot more views than 4 in a couple hours time. They only way I can send the video is by emailing them to my subscribers! I'm doing everything right! Could it be You Tube acting up as usual? Thanks. What is your channel? I hate to SOUND mean, but you probably just arn't popular at all. A big percantage of Youtube's videos have less than 1000 views after being around for a YEAR or two. You can't expect to upload a video and suddenly GET a million views.but if you're averaging, let's say, 100 views per video and all videos have more than 4 or 5 viewers within 3 hours, something's fishy.Quote from: 1two3 on August 18, 2010, 02:33:50 PM

The term subscribers surprised me. Are these people paying you to watch your videos?

If so, YT may have a problem with that.No. It's people that subscribed to my Y.T. channel.you subscribe to a channel and whenever a video GETS posted, you should be alerted to it so you can go watch it. It's free like youtube itself is free.As I'm sure you have guessed, I don't spend that MUCH time on You Tube.It was a little noticeable.

Solve : Reduce ping??

Answer»

I only get 0.33Mb/s upload so I can barley PLAY any online games, on cod I have 200ping, WoW I get 30ms but sometime 1k+ so sometimes I can't do so much... So I would gladly trade my current connection to 10Mb/s down and 10Mb/s up.

So whats the point to have a huge Download when you can't upload anything?0.33 upload causes that much difficulty? Wow.

And too think I used to play games using 56kbps download and 36kbps upload without any problems whatsoever.

Ping times are mostly relating to your distance from the server, as well as the load on your own LAN and the network of your ISP. It's usually unrelated to download and upload speed.

On the other hand, it could just be that games today have very badly thought out protocols. But, is it fundamentally right?

I mean, can Copper lines deliver speed of upto 330Mbps(as showcase in Screenshot)?

He must be on a Cable BROADBAND!?

Is there any further variant of ADSL after VDSL?

Nevertheless, I can atleast boast of faster upload rate than Frejoh, mine is 0.43Mbps.

Download ROUGHLY stands at 1.77Mbps on an average BUT my ISP is always rated B at Pingtest.net owing to greater 'Jitter' rate

& practically, I do sometimes observe high latency(slow response time) on clicking a web link.

I've read reports of GB speeds over copper in the labs, but I don't think there are any real world applications of it yet.

The phone companies have an incredible amount of money invested in copper wiring world wide and they are trying to get the most out of it.Well I don't know if they made it extra thick, (or if it even is copper) but they laid it just because they are building a new village with 50+ hoses.

Solve : Attached two computers??

Answer»

How i can attached two computers for data sharing without INTERNET connection?Hi

1. First check the two systems it contains LAN port or Not (if not add).
2. Buy a Lan cable which is called Cross crimp.
3. connect two systems through this cable
4. Share everything you want to copy to another system. You want to use a crossover cable: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Connect-two-computers-using-a-crossover-cableThese suggestions are too difficult, it CREATES Firewall problems, especially if one Computer is W2K and the other is XP.

I assume that "businessman1927" has a router?
Plainly plug both Computers into the Router, and do Filesharing. Let the system will deal with the problemsYou cant assume anything. There isnt enough information there, Allan gave what is the best thing that he can try. We will need to know what KIND of Operating System that the units are running to config them correctly. Also, the cheapest way to connect these is via a cross over cable. Wal-mart or most electronic chains should have them. Slade,
You are absolutely correct: You can't assume anything.
businessman1927 did not refer to what OS was involved: Commodore, PS2, Appel may be?
businessman1927's profile states: Windows.
From there Allan may already have assumed that businessman1927 was referring to an OS Windows, and therefor he suggested the mentioned Windows.Microsoft website. Allan should not have MADE that assumption without asking businessman1927 what operating system was at stake.
And I was so dumb to assume that businessman1927 was referring to OS Windows Re: profile, and perhaps had access to a Router.
Maybe businessman1927 is trying to cross an Amigo and a Timex2000. We still don't know.
Such dumb assumptions!

I DONT think that it would be that old of units. If thats what he has, its more then likely Windows. Course some people have several units. Those are not self configing maybe if he was attaching to a preexsisting network. This case he will need a peer to peer but, till he replies back we cant go any further.

Solve : Connection speed problems (Help)?

Quote from: AlwaysScrewed on August 13, 2010, 05:00:19 PM

@BC_Programmer

Then please explain it because I don't understand.

Also... please don't insult me.

He didn't insult you. He told it like it is. There's a difference.

When a PERSON expects others to help them without thinking about what impact it has on others, and then plays the victim role when they don't get the help they want, that's entitlement. That's not an insult. It's just stating an observation.

If I were to, for example, go to work without taking a shower for a week or so, and someone told me that I have major BO, they're not insulting me. They're telling it like it is. I may not want to hear it, but they don't want to work in an environment that smells like a horse's rear end, either.

Right now, you're making it hard for anyone to help you. I know there's a lot you don't understand, but at LEAST make an effort to follow the directions you were given. "Give a MAN a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish and he'll never go hungry." ...or something like that.

...and as BC said, there's nothing else to explain. You don't get to choose what comes out of other people's mouths (or what people type on the Internet). Take what you get and make the best of it, or if you can do it better, learn how to do it yourself.

Read up on how to set up a wired network here:
http://www.myinsight.com/Help-broadband-homenetwork-7037.asp

If that means you have to string a 100 foot Ethernet cable from your computer upstairs to your router downstairs, then that's what you're going to have to do. Maybe this is a good time for you to learn how to run your own network cable:
http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/22/how-to-run-your-own-network-wiring/

You know... I was getting the numbers from Task Manager.

But... when I stopped caring and didn't bring up Task Manager. No problems and no randomly losing internet connection. Could me bringing up Task Manager been causing the problem?! O_O

Also... this past weekend. My PHONE wasn't WORKING and my internet wasn't working. My parents are dealing with this currently. This is an ISP problem but it seems like they keep lying to my parents... my parents aren't very happy with my ISP right now... Someone can't come out until Saturday. To be safe... it looks like I won't be doing anything internet related/computer related until this person comes out.

Nevermind. It happened again today anyway.

Help?

Follow the advice you're given before screaming for "help."

If it's an ISP issue, then we can't just magically make it work. You'll have to wait for them...or get a new ISP...I see...

In the end... I'm screwed once again.

Solve : hosts file doesn't work for all entries added?

Answer»

I've added a few entries to my hosts file for certain reasons, but only some of them work.

I know the Ip addresses I added are valid, because they work if I type them into a browser.Post here, what you added and explain why you believe some entries don't work.well, after pinging www.geico.com (i'm trying to save 15 % .......jk)

and

www.monster.com

I took the returned IP addresses and added them to the hosts file, like:

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx geico

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx monster

But I actually just REALIZED that the IP address DO NOT work as I said they did, when typed into a browser. I got the wrong impression at some point... I don't know why they won't work when typed into a browser. I guess it could be that they are dynamic public addresses and they are changing, but there are only a few other public addresses that I have seen those sites use (by pinging multiple times) and those addresses don't work either, when typed into a browser.

On the other hand, pinging other sites and using the returned IP addresses in the browser does work....

I'm not sure, what you're trying to do.
Why are you trying to add those sites to "hosts" file.
With "hosts" file you can BLOCK certain sites, but I don't think, you want to block geico...block ?

I don't know what you mean. As far as I know adding to the hosts file is a WAY to resolve host names to IP addresses, not block them. I added the IP address of my bank to the hosts file and assigned a certain name to it, just like above. Now when I go to my browser I type that certain name, and that name is resolved to the corresponding IP address...and it works fine..OK, let's go back to the beginning.
What exactly are you trying to achieve?
What is your goal?Quote from: grandpa_simpson on August 23, 2010, 12:14:12 AM

That is a very strange way of creating bookmarks.

The reason is because I recently picked up studying penetration testing/countermeasures and I read about "dns cache poisoning" Until I know about the different ways this attack can be carried out I would prefer to use my own name resolution, for certain websites. As far as I can see, this would ensure that no matter what a hacker could do to dns server, at least I would know that the IP address I'm using is the right one..

As far as I can see, this would ensure that no matter what a hacker could do to dns server, at least I would know that the IP address I'm using is the right one..

1st: DNSSEC, a extension to DNS created to mitigate the problem of DNS cache poisoning (despite it being very rare and mostly caused accidentally) was deployed at least a few months ago.

2nd: the "threat" of DNS cache poisoning is about as real as the Y2K bug. That is, almost all the "damage" so called experts say it can do are all based on nonsense, because said experts aren't really experts at all and have no idea how DNS actually worked.

3rd: unless you actually understand how DNS cache poisoning works, as well as how DNS works normally you really have no experience in the matter and cannot claim to have a method of mitigating said issue.

Sure, Sure- Yes, the DNS you are using could have a poisoned entry. let's pretend it does, something "important", such as your bank.

So, your computer requests the Hostname. For me, this would be tdcanadatrust.com, and since the cache is poisoned, I get back a address to a malicious server somewhere. The first sign of trouble would be, I imagine, the fact that it's SSL certificate is not valid and FF would display a warning to that effect.

Second, the people RESPONSIBLE for said attack would need to pretty much duplicate the entire site.

Third, the end result would be that they would end up with a few numbers from my account number, as well as my "easyweb" password. The numbers they have would narrow it down to few hundred thousand different actual account numbers, but the fact remains that each request takes about 10 seconds, so even if they tried to "hack" into my account in that manner they would still need at least 12 hours to do so, but by that time I'm sure the bank and or their IT admins would have:

A:) noticed that a good amount of their traffic has dissappeared as a result of the cache attack

and

B:) notice a single IP address constantly requesting and being denied login for hours on end. Of course the "hackers" could thereotically distribute such attempts, but even then it would hardly conceal the first factor. Basically, they would go to all this effort to get a few PASSWORDS, without being able to match said passwords to the actual Account numbers. And even if they able to do so, the banking software itself requires that we enter a security question whenever our accounts are accessed from a IP address they haven't been accessed from. I highly doubt they would be able to guess the nonsensical answers I gave, and even if my answers were something that could be accessed by a dictionary attack, they just took 12 hours to finally get in and now they need to take another few hours to get in all the way, this is even assuming that the bank was really slow and their IT staff was all on vacation and thus they didn't respond to the clear indications of something going on. That and the fact that the site is actually distributed across several domains would make attacking a financial institution- or, more precisely, the members of said institution - using a DNS poisoning attack very difficult and involve the expertise of designers (to duplicate the web page) script programmers (to duplicate it's functionality) as well as experts able to create the poisoned DNS records. It would require a great amount of organization amongst a group known for their solitary hubris.

DNS Cache poisoning can also be a local problem that goes deeper then the hosts file does. It won't mitigate DNS cache poisoning because the cache is checked before it reads from the hosts file anyway.

Check if you are "vulnerable" to DNS cache poisoning
http://www.froyn.net/poison.html

Even if you are, the above info still applies. It would still take a concerted effort by a lot of skilled people to get anything.

Solve : list of all domain address?

Answer»

Hello

Recently I think about "there are many filtered web site in internet network in my country…!" so, I decide to extract statistical information about filtered and non-filtered website (domain).
I program a Perl application to test this and extract statistical information.

Now I only need:
-All present and active domain address
-Activation (visitor number or traffic) of each one (this is optional but BETTER to have)

How can I find (or access) to the list of all present and active domain address?

Thanks
1) You can't.

1. Yes, but now since the new AT&T ROUTER box has to be setup in a different room, connecting my desktop by hardwire is impossible unless I get a much longer cord.

2. No.

3. Yes.

4. Yes, and Im still having trouble connecting to the internet. That desktop wireless adapter....
Is it a card, a dongle...or?
Brand new?

Try some basic steps...

Make sure, your computer is set to obtain IP address automatically.
1. Go Start>Settings>Control Panel (Vista/7 users: Start>Control Panel)
2. Double click Network Connections (Vista/7 users: Network and Sharing Center)
3. Vista/7 users - From the list of tasks on the left, click Manage network connections.
4. For a wired network connection, right-click Local Area Connection, and then select Properties.
For a wireless network connection, right-click Wireless Network Connection, and then select Properties.
5. From the General tab (Vista/7 users: Networking tab), click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), make sure it is checked, and then click Properties
6. Click Obtain an IP Address Automatically, and then click OK.

If that doesn't work...
Turn off computer. Disconnect router, and modem from power source for 1 minute. At the same time disconnect ethernet cable as well.
Reconnect everything.
Restart computer.

If that doesn't work, bypass router, and connect computer straight to the modem.

If that doesn't work...
Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in:
cmd
Click OK (in Vista, while holding CTRL, and SHIFT, press Enter).

In Command Prompt window, type in following commands, and hit Enter after each one:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
net stop "dns client"
net start "dns client"

Restart computer.

If that doesn't work...
Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in:
cmd
Click OK (in Vista, while holding CTRL, and SHIFT, press Enter).

At Command Prompt, type in:
netsh int ip reset reset.log
Hit Enter.
Type in:
netsh winsock reset catalog
Hit Enter.

Restart computer.

If that doesn't work...
Download, install, and run WinSockFix: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network-Tweak/WinSockFix.shtml (doesn't work in Vista)
Restart computer, and check again.

If that doesn't work...
Download Dial-A-Fix (DAF) (doesn't work in Vista):
http://wiki.lunarsoft.net/wiki/Dial-a-fix#Mirrors.2Fdownload_locations.2C_and_articles

Have XP CD available in case DAF needs a file. Likely not!

Check all boxes on the screen (clear any restrictions if it shows any)
Then click GO!

When the entire page is finished click the HammerHead at bottom to go to the second DAF page.

Here, one at a time, do the below:

Reinstall BITS
Reinstall Windows Firewall
Repair Permissions
Reset networking

Watch for any File not found or other errors and make note as this may lead to the fix!

Restart computer.

Any idea's?
I'm using a compaq presario, with windows vista, the access point is a tp link model TL-wa501g.

The first idea I have is to stop using someone else's connction and get your own.

Next I would LOOK at getting a wireless router setup in your house with your own security setup.

Solve : PS3 LAPTOP and ROUTERS!! So close need final piece of puzzle to creat my network?

Answer»

Hello and THANK you for clicking on my little problem here. i have my ps3 connected to my laptop via ethernet. and i have my laptop connected to router via wifi. my latop SUPPORTS dual connections such as this. but where my ps3 will succeed in finding and obtaining its ip it fails very quickly (not even timing out) when it comes to connecting to the internet.

i have enabled everything on the WNC to allow the LAN to bypass the firewall. i have even port forwarded everything needed for the PSN. but they wont bridge for some reason. and even though the lan is connected it says limited or no CONNECTION.

but the ethernet cable works directly. recently my brother decided to move the pc to the living room so he could go on internet. he is now using the only ethernet port on my router and my ps3 isnt a wireless one.

i THINK i have explained as much as i can about what i have done so any help would be great. XDFor starters since this connection to the internet for the PS3 is going via the router it will be laggy (just fyi). Ok then, how did you attempt the bridged connection?

what you could try but i assume you haven't is to go to your laptop and go to the network connections and double click on the wifi, to bring up its status then select details.
Next, write down the primary DNS server that are shown on the screen
Last, go to your PS3 and input this in the DNS sever area on network connections.

This method works for the XBOX 360 I've done it. it should work for you as well. i did the same setup on my laptop until i was able to run an Ethernet cable to the room with the XBOX 360 in it.

Solve : Router blocking Email/Website/Host?

Answer»

Routers Blocking Internet Site(s)

Ok, so I I have used 3 routers to test this problem(not all at the same time lol).
and it happens on ALL of them the 3 Routers Involved are.
Dlink DI-524 (H/W Ver :C1)
Linksys BEFW11S4 Ver.2
Belkin Model # F5D5231-4 Ver.1103

Computer Information
Operating system : Windows XP Home Edition 2002
service packs: SP 2
computer make/model : Dell Optiplex GX520
Intel Celeron CPU 2.66 GHz
current adware/spyware/virus programs being used on a REGULAR basis: Avast
do you have a "real" Windows CD, etc.: Yes I do

So here's the Issue. I know its some thing to do with the routers.
How do I know its the routers? There are 2 reasons that leave me
With this conclusion..

1) If I unplug them, And Plug my computer Directly into the Cable
modem, The Site loads perfectly. So we can rule out ISP. If it was
ISP, The Site would still be blocked.

2) After connecting the Router the site will load 1 time and then clicking
On any link will result in the page not found Error. If i enter the
Router settings, and do a Factory Reset, Im able to access the page
1 time before its blocked again.

Now... Iv tried turning off the Firewalls, Iv tried Removing any and all
Passwords and security. Its as open as the sky... But nothing works.
Some thing, some where in these routers is Blocking my connection to
the website, and in doing so blocking my connection to my email.

For example.
When I enter a cmd line and type "ping http://www.echothefaith.com" the
Following information is returned to me.

Pinging http://www.echothefaith.com Footsteps of the Carpenter Footsteps of the Carpenter *64.158.56.56 with 32 bytes of data:

Packets: Sent = 4, Recieved = 4, Lost = 0<0% loss>,
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 55ms, Maximum = 56ms, Average = 55ms

I can Ping it, I can load it without using the router, (or 1 time if i reset it) and it loads fine on NEIGHBORS pc... So, ruling out ISP, Ruling out the site has issues. im left with 3 routers that are telling me no. lol im in a boat with no paddle.

Why do my routers Hate Me
Congratulations, I've picked your post as worthy of a reply, lol. Okay seriously though lets get to business. First good job on having some good deduction skills. You can visit sites without the routers but you can't when you connect them between your modem & pc. You only mentioned one specific site having trouble but I am going to assume you have trouble visiting all sites from your first sentence.

Your problem seems to be an IP address issue. In the command prompt type the following without quotes: "ipconfig". Write down the ip address & subnet mask that you get. It should probably be something like 192.168.0.5 for ip & 255.255.255.0 for subnet. Do these look the same as the ip address you type to get to the router settings? Post back with your results of both your pc & router ips.

Another thing you may want to try is to connect one of the routers. Then from the command line of your pc type the following without quotes: "ipconfig /renew". This should give you a new ip address from the router that should be valid. Now visit the site and see if you can see it with no problems. Hi thanks for the quick reply..
Here is the info I think you asked for lol

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Belkin
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway. . . . . . . . . . . . .: 192.168.1.1

The Router Login would be http://192.168.2.1/

This is with my Belkin Router. I did Try doing the "ipconfig /renew" but it still displays a "problem loading page ' error. There's your problem dude. Your pc ip is not in the same subnet as your router. To put simply your pc ip is in one zip code and your router is in another zip code. Your pc is in subnet 192.168.1.0 and your router is in subnet 192.168.2.0. You either have to be in 1.0 or 2.0.

Go to control panel and then network connections. Right click your connection (something like LOCAL AREA NETWORK 1) & select properties. Then select tcp/ip (IPV4) and select properties. Does it have OBTAIN IP AUTOMATICALLY or does it have the ip typed in?ok confusion continues

Ping statistics for 75.126.65.69:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),Did that solve your problem with the Belkin router? Also can you ping any site? Have you tried pinging google.com and get the same response? You didn't answer my question of whether or not you had "obtain ip automatically". At least now your ip is in the same subnet as your router. You only have 1 router hooked up right? You don't have 2 or 3 hooked up at the same time? This is really a very simple problem to fix. Unfortunately without being there and seeing how your network is physically set up it will take longer to figure out your issue. Is your modem also a router?

Solve : Need Some TCP/IP Clarification?

Answer»

Hey guys. I am currently working on my CCNA, CCNET, and CompTIA Network +, and I would like some clarification as to how the whole system works. I am just a beginner to the class, but I am one of those people that is curious about everything and tends to jump the gun on subjects I care about.

Alright, I understand that each computer is assigned an IP address by their ISP (internet provider) which is like the address of a house to that computer. Somehow, after the ISP, the DNS gets involved in this. Once this is established, the computer will send specific PACKETS of various information through ports meant for various TASKS to preform. These packets communicate back and forth from computer to computer.

Now, on TOP of that, if a router gets involved, the IP address becomes the router's IP address and the IP of the computer is instead given a network address (thus 192.168.1.xxx). Once this is established, you can no longer connect to a specific computer using a program because you cannot tell which computer to connect to. So, if I were to use a VNC software on my Netbook (right beside my other computer) the server side installs fine. But the client side asks the IP address of the netbook. If I enter the IP address of the netbook (which I GET on the netbook and use whatsmyip.org to get), the connection fails. I am thinking I have to address the network address somehow. My IT teacher instructed me I have to navigate through the router, then to the selected computer. This is a little rhetorical.

From this situation, I am informed there is still quite a bit of information about networks I lack. I know that CCNA will teach me how to operate Cisco routers, switches, and other hardware with software. But my own curiosity has brought me to wonder how the whole process works. Is there ANY way I can tell my desktop to contact the router, find out it IS a router, then figure out which computer i am looking for, then navigate to it somehow? This is the long way, but it would help me understand my own home network.

I have searched around on Wiki and related sites, I am given a brief description, but it is either incomprehensible or extremely elementary.Well since your question seems legit and not a homework question I will be glad to explain your situation. Okay you know the basics between a public ip & a private ip right? A public ip is what the world (internet) sees and the private is what your pcs at home see for each other. The public ip is given to your router. Your router has 2 ips. One is the public & one is the private. Your computers communicate with your router through the private ip. Your router then TRANSLATES this private address back to the public ip. This is called NAT. It's what allows multiple ips to share 1 public ip. Anyways, when your vnc client asks for a server ip within your own network it should be the private ip. If you are trying to vnc to your home computer from outside your home then you give it the public ip. In your router you then have to look for the PORT FORWARDING setting. This tells the router that when a packet comes from the internet to its public ip for a certain port it then needs to know what pc (or private ip) it needs to send it to. That's how you'll get around your issue. So if I were to say if packets SENT through port 2005, go to 192.168.(enter private IP here)? In that case, what happens if you want to VNC multiple computers on that network? Say another desktop downstairs? Or is this impossible? Not impossible just have to think outside the box. Ports are not fixed to a certain service. Although there are standards that say x port should be x service, aka port 80 means web traffic it doesn't mean port 80 can't be another service. Likewise, port 2005 isn't just for vnc. When you set up the vnc server you just need to put a different port for each pc. That way you can then do what you want with port forwarding in your router to the right pc. It's definitely a hassle but not impossible.

Solve : Computer refusing to connect to net?

Answer»

Hi guys.
When my wife finished what she was doing on her computer she shut it down as normal then when i started it up this morning for her it just wont connect.
It finds the drivers but no internet
She reinstalled at least 3 times but still nothing happens.
I changed the ethernet wire over and placed her wire in my computer and there was no issue.
As nothing there was happening i installed Windows 7 and the only problem i have with it is that it still refuses to connect.
I have read on other sites about removing some sort of card but this is the factory connected ethernet port which is part of the motherboard.

Please could someone help as we are hoping to sell both of our computers and hers looks nicer than MINE lol

The only thing i have done to her computer was install ram which was taken back out as i bought the wrong one - oops.

Solve : Streaming Audio?

Answer»

My father is attempting to stream game audio out threw online for the radio station he works at. He has the unit to stream it from setup thing is that when he attempts to do it, the ROUTER supposebly blocks him. Thing is that he isnt sure how to open a port on it. Any idea's how too. I will attempt to add information as needed cause Im not todally sure how to do this ether.I don't know if your router is blocking the streaming or not but one thing is for sure. Your ISP might be blocking it. ISPs don't LIKE your HOSTING a server in their network. They frown upon it and usually reserve such things for their business customers not residential ones. Quote from: Slade on August 12, 2010, 01:16:16 PM

My father is attempting to stream game audio out threw online for the radio station he works at.
Yes, it's a business, but does it have residential type account , or a business account? Usually, business accounts cost more because the ISP expects business to use more bandwidth, like your dad is trying to do.I'll have to ask him but, its more so a figure out type of thing as we go.He says that he has win amp streaming the music but, he isnt able to remotely connect an listen too it. We dont expect to get this working at the start of the season. However, we would like to have it up soon.I've never used win amp, but from what I read about it, it sounds like it might be able to what your dad wants to do. Check out this article.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winamp

There's a Pro version your dad may need. Also, he needs to check with his ISP to see if they are imposing any limitations on bandwidth.

If the ISP has any problems with this type of streaming audio, he could offer some free commercials for the ISP during the PROGRAM in exchange for access.he told me that its only going too be a few byte's. I'll come back later once I find out more. When you say game, I'm guessing your talking something like baseball or soccer. That's going to be a WHOLE lot more than a few bytes.Sorry, yeah mainly football an basket ball. There's no video feed just plain audio. He said that he hasnt done it in four years so he doesnt have the most recent win amp ether. Not sure if that would cause it or not.

Solve : Network Cable Unplugged Help?

Answer»

My PC is SHOWING network cable unplugged error. Sometimes it automatically fixes and internet works fine but few minutes later it starts to show the same error again.

I contacted by ISP and he advised me to change Ethernet Card. I changed the card but I am having still having the problem.

I am using "Realtek RTL8139/810x Family FAST Ethernet NIC" card and I have UPDATE the drivers as well - Driver Version -5.719.325.2009 but I continue to have the problem. I even changed the slot of Ethernet Card but it didn't work.

My ISP insists that network cable is fine. I don't know what is the problem. Please help.

I am using Windows XP.

Not sure if this applies to you: http://bit.ly/auUibo

Other info:
- loose socket on laptop/PC NIC.
- You may be downloading a lot (of torrents) and thus your connection is being overloaded, causing this message
- Make sure you using dhcp on the router and remove any static entries

1. Firmware fixes most of the issues. Check for any available firmware specific for your router.
2. Do Check the IP from the modem. If it is private then this is the culprit. The IP from modem should always be public.
3. Try changing the LAN card SPEED to 10 half duplex.
Here's how:
Device Manager -> your ethernet card -> right click -> properties -> Advanced tab -> Change 'Value' in 'Link Speed/Duplex Mode'

4. If neither of the steps work and things are fine with the IP address then Reset and RECONFIGURE the router.

Though your problem description reminds me of a lack of buffer, so I would try step 3 first.

Please reply if any of this helped.
You might switch patch cords also. The RJ45 might be loose on one end causing the intermittent problem.

Singlely each hub works perfect, both having its own 'key'. however, when connected tgether through a two way splitter at the same time, they will not connect to the BT, both having the 'Broadband' lights flashing AMBER. Is there any way to connect both at the same time please? You can''t do this. They aren't "identical"; they have unique hardware IDS and only one at a time will work on your line.
Thanks, that is just what I didn't want to hear. Is there any way to connect one hub THROUGH the on line hub to INCREASE the range? ie. feeding the second hub from one of the SPARE yellow sockets on the 'live' hub?

Solve : Mailing through Telnet will not function?

Answer»
I was following this wikihow and sending the mail failed because my process looks like this:

telnet SMTP.live.com 587
220 BLU0-SMTP59.blu0.hotmail.com Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 6.0.3790
.4675 READY at Mon, 30 Aug 2010 06:08:36 -0700
HELO
250 BLU0-SMTP59.blu0.hotmail.com Hello [x.x.x.x]
MAIL FROM
530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first
starttls
220 2.0.0 SMTP server ready
-any command-

Connection to host lost.

Right after I write 'starttls' and the server is 'ready', the connection ends,
no matter what I type. I just have to type two chars and it displays the 'Connection to host lost' message.

I don't know what the problem is.
My guess is authentication/SSL but I can't even get to there because,
if I try to type anything in the beginning, right after the server welcome message,
it asks me to 'HELO first', then starttls. Of course, when starttls is initiated, the server ends the connection on me..

What must I do?

Useful info
-------------
- Hotmail (Windows Live) supports POP3 since 2009.
- It now requires authentication (TLS/SSL)
- If your ISP blocks port 25 (which mine does), use port 587.

Hotmail doesn't accept telnet connections.

Go to your email client and change\add port 587 to it.

Bleh. Just thought it'd be COOL to do it through a commandline interface.

Solve : Network Connectivity?

Answer»

Good Morning,

I have a user who has been experiencing network connectivity PROBLEMS every morning he comes to work. I go to the patch panel and change his PORT and the customer receives connection, and EVERYTHING is fine until the NEXT working day.

Anyone has an idea what could be causing this?

could it be the ETHERNET cable on the actual patch panel?

could it be the drop?

or could it be his NIC card? (even though when I switch ports on the switch he get connection.)

Solve : network won't share files or printers?

Answer»

I have as computer 1 a Vista home pro machine connected to wired cisco cable/dsl router switch BEFSR41 V4.3 router connected to cable modem, router connected to computer 2 an old compaq OS windows 98 . I can connect to internet with both machines however the 98 machine is slower. I cannot share files or printers. I downloaded network magic 7day trial version from cisco it does not seem to know that the 98 machine is there. Have been unable to locate a patch at cisco or data for that matter on what operating systems network magic supports.

WHAT GIVES? any one know of software fix. OR KEY PRESS BY KEYPRESS instructions to fix problem remember your not dealing with a computer whiz Networking is fun when it comes to Vista and Win98!

Make sure you have the same IP scheme, for example: 192.168.0.XX, where XX is an unique number per computer.

Ensure you have the same Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS IP addresses.

To find this, right-click on your taskbar network icon (bottom right near the clock), open and select 'Local AREA CONNECTION Status' and then 'Details'. IP address should be the same on all except the last two digits which must be unique. If you think they are wrong, REPLY so we can advice how to fix it.

Attempt to ping between the machines through there IPs.
Start > Run > type 'cmd' (without quotes), enter.
type ping (followed by the IP address or name, for example: 192.168.0.1) and press enter.

Make sure you have the same workgroup name (watch for trailing spaces).

If there are 3rd party firewalls installed, check they allow networking discovery and sharing.

Ensure Win98 has file sharing enabled and is sharing a directory or printer.

Don't use NetBEUI if your trying to connect Win98 through that as Vista doesn't have it.

Thanks will get back to you in a day or two with results.

Solve : Can TCP connection overload cause your computer to crash and shutdown??

Answer»
See question in topic.
Can it?
I was using µTorrent when suddenly in the middle of the night my PC just poof,
GAVE up and shut down.
I checked the 'System' category in the Event Viewer, and I see something in the likes of 'max TCP connections reached' around that hour.

So I am wondering, can this exception (overload of TCP connections) cause my PC to shutdown by itself?
My PC rarely does this. No, REACHING max TCP connections cannot cause your computer to crash. This is just a network interface setting It must be something else. See what other events happened around that TIME. Could be hardware faults or OVERHEATING.

Solve : JavaScript match()?

Answer»

I am trying to extract "67890" from "param1=12345&param2=67890".

When I USE the following code, I get a blank page.
Code: [SELECT]<html>
<head>
<title>JavaScript Test</title>
</head>
<body>
<script type="text/javascript">
var string1;
var string2;
var string3;
string1 = "param1=12345&param2=67890";
string2 = string1.match(/param2=[0-9]{5}/);
string3 = string2.match(/[0-9]{5}/);
document.write("string1: " + string1 + "<br />string2: " + string2 + "<br />string3: " + string3);
</script>
</body>
</html>

If I comment out "string3 = string2.match(/[0-9]{5}/);" I get the following result:

Code: [Select]string1: param1=12345&param2=67890
string2: param2=67890
string3: undefined

Why does the second match() not work?

EDIT: I am sorry for posting this in Networking. I must have been so distracted by my problem that I clicked on the wrong board. Can someone please move it to Web Design?I THINK I have figured it out.
As I currently UNDERSTAND it, match() returns the result as an array EVEN if there is only one result.
To run another match() on the results of the first match(), I have to define which array entry to use.

Here is my new code.
Code: [Select]<script type="text/javascript">
var string1 = "param1=12345&param2=67890";
var string2 = string1.match(/param2=[0-9]{5}/);
var string3 = string2[0].match(/[0-9]{5}/);
document.write("string1: " + string1 + "<br />string2: " + string2 + "<br />string3: " + string3);
</script>

Here are the results of that code.
Code: [Select]string1: param1=12345&param2=67890
string2: param2=67890
string3: 67890

After learning about the array, I was able to condense my code the the following:
Code: [Select]<script type="text/javascript">
var string1 = "param1=12345&param2=67890";
var string2 = string1.match(/param2=([0-9]{5})/);
document.write("string1: " + string1 + "<br />string2: " + string2[1]);
</script>

Solve : Connected to WiFi network but can no longer connect computers?

Answer»

I have a desktop and a laptop. Both running Win 7, I had installed a wireless router and connected them both to the NETWORK, this was working FINE ,file sharing and everything worked great, then all of a sudden the computers will no longer connect. I have tried reinstalling the router, ip config release/renew, interesting enough the computers will ping with the Computer name but not with the ip address. Does anyone know whats going on here? How many firewalls do you have? Check your firewall and security options and default settings. You may want to use just one for testing. Check for any firmware version updates for your router/modem.The firewall settings are all the same as when the connection was working, I turned them off anyway just to try but that did not work. And there are no updates to the router's firmware.Wireless Router Brand?
Some Win 7 Connection Tips : http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-7/windows-7-cannot-connect-to-internet/The wireless router brand is D-Link. And I'm sorry I did not clarify that both computers connect to the internet just fine they just won't connect to each other. They SHOW up on the network but when I try to connect I get the error code 0x80070035.
Are you experiencing this code error on both laptop and desktop? On your Win 7 Laptop, were you prompted for Username and Password before you had access? If yes, then try to re-create your password on your laptop. Yes the same error code is coming up for both computers. And there is no longer any prompt for the username and password ...there used to be before the troubles .

PS Thanks for the effort It is appreciated.Quote

And there is no longer any prompt for the username and password ...there used to be before the troubles .
Which means password protected sharing was ON before the trouble. So at the moment there was no password prompt which is OFF could mean its in for public sharing or access. Go to Network Sharing Center and Advanced Sharing Settings --> TURN ON network discovery
--> Turn ON Public folder sharing(If homegroup is used) for desktop/laptop
Password Protected Sharing --> Turn ON Password Protected Sharing
If problems still occur during password prompt is ON, Re-create a password for your laptop.Ok Somehow through all the advice it now works. Thank you, Im not quite sure what it was EXACTLY but it now works.

Thank You.

Now I have a new problem Which I will start a new thread.

My friend is trying to tell me we can just hook up our EXTRA router to the TV and that would work but i dont THINK so. Please help. The computer is a new Acer Aspire 7540-1284 Laptop. I told him HDMI cable would work but he WONT listen. Thanks for all help and any suggestions would be very appreciated.Only if you add a wireless ADAPTER to the TV,
i,e, http://www.amazon.com/Atlona-AT-HDAIR-Computer-Monitor-Wireless/dp/B002EPQGZW
This is USB, not ethernet, so the router is out.
Use the HDMI cable as you suggested.

Well, you guess wrong. You are using a SERVICE that you have not paid for without the permission of the ACCOUNT holder. Their (stupid) failure to secure the service does not EXCUSE or cancel your theft.

So in that quote from you, that word beginning with 's', the second from the start, I must be dreaming when I think it is 'stealing'? You might as well say "the supermarket does not padlock the goods to the shelves so taking them is not stealing."This thread is locked.

Believe it or not, stealing is considered wrong by some people.

Solve : I cannot see some computers on home network?

Answer»

I have a 5-computers home network, 4 desktops and 1 LAPTOP. They all run XP, except one with Vista. In addition, there are printers attached locally to 2 desktops through USB. One connected thru ethernet, the other four use WIRELESS. The diagram is as follows (they all have same workgroup):

Computer 1: Desktop, Vista, ethernet
Computer 2: Desktop, XP, Wireless, Brother Printer, Canon 9900 Printer
Computer 3: Desktop XP, Wireless
Computer 4: Desktop XP, Wireless, Canon 9100 PRinter
Computer 5: Laptop, MacBook Pro, OS X 10.5.6, XP emulation thru VMWare, Wireless

There are 2 perplexing problems that keep NAGGING me for several years now.

First, I cannot see some desktops from others. For example, all the computers cannot see Computer 4.

Second, Computer 5 in OS X cannot connect to the printers on Computer 2. The VMWare however successfully connects to those 2 printers, so I do have access, thru Windows applications only. It would be nice to connect for the Mac applications also.

I suspect some network configurations were not set up properly on these computers. Does anyone have any SUGGESTION, or a checklist for me to check?

Thank you in advance.

Solve : From Old Desktop to New laptop?

Answer»

Can anyone help?

My old laptops HD crashed on me for the 2nd time in a year last Sept so I got myself a new one, the old one was running XP the new one runs Vista! Upstairs I have an old dinosaur desktop running Windows 98 with a cable connection to my internet router (and I still use this one more lol)

I can't access anything on my old laptop HD and would like to transfer some programmes I had on there that are also on the one running 98, can I do this with a cable from the old desktop to the new laptop? and can I transfer programs as well as FILES? Any help would be gratefully appreciated... I can't even network through my internet connection as I'd have to make a DISK from the old pc to do it (apparently?) but it doesn't even have a DVDRW just a CD player (thats how old the thing is) but I do need my accounting package desperately on my laptop (and my MS Office package which I have the disk for but the blooming key codes worn off of the case and I can't read it lol)

Also is there any way I can access the HD on old laptop, can't even GET windows screen up it just asks what mode to start in - waits a minute and then re-boots itself

Thanx

KathyYou can't transfer programs, you'll need to install them in the new computer. I suggest you contact Microsoft re: your Office disk. I believe it has a serial # ENGRAVED in tiny characters and Microsoft can give you the key code by getting that serial # from you.

To transfer files, I think your best option is probably an external enclosure to put your old laptop hard drive and then connect it to your new laptop via USB port. Here one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817159091 I'm assuming your old laptop hard drive still works. If not, then then won't work.

Solve : Can't Connect To Wireless N Router with Notebook Card?

Answer»

Hello Everyone,

Great community, thought it may provide "hope" to a SOLUTION to my problem. Dlink customer support doesn't know, i can't find any forums talking about this:

Hardware:
IBM Thinkpad T40 (little dated) - Windows XP SP2 at least
DLink DWA-642 "Rangebooster N Notebook Adapter"
Dlink DIR-628 Wireless Router

Problem:
I disabled my IBM's internal wireless hardware, so only the wireless card is active. I tied using both windows and Dlink's software to "connect to wireless networks". When i scan i can see everyone's SSID's around me but not mine! I have a brand new Dell Inspiron with Vista and that is connect to the network, so i know its broadcasting and active. I updated the firmware on my router, reinstalled the drivers multiple times, and it still sees every network but mine. I am pretty sure that the networks that it sees are not wireless N, so i think it has something to do with that. I don't want to downgrade to G, that is why i bought the Wireless N Notebook card!

I downloaded the update from MS for wireless N enhancements in windows XP, but it said i already had that installed. Is there something in my XP settings that i need to update? Or do you think i need to tweak the router's settings to communicate with the card? They are sold as a package, and the same "rangebooster N" line, should be easy 123.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try this-

Access the router setup page. With my D-Link DIR-655, it's http://192.168.0.1, but your's could be different. You probably know how to access it, anyways.

If your pages are SIMILAR to mine, then you want to go

top link "SETUP" left link "WIRELESS SETTINGS"

and then select "manual wireless network setup"

make sure all settings here are PROPER, for example mine is set to mixed 802.11n,g, and b.

barring any options there, you can try removing the wireless driver for BOTH the internal IBM and the rangebooster, and then install only the rangebooster. It could be that the two wireless DEVICES are arguing or something equally ridiculous.

Solve : My dad reset my router. 1 computer and X-Box Live can't connect to the Internet.?

Answer»

He was screwing around and hit the reset button. Both Computer 1 (this one - where the router is based), our X-box Live, and Computer 2 (in another room) couldn't connect to the internet. We somehow got Computer 1's internet working again (obviously), but the X-box live and Computer 2 still can't connect to the internet. The router evidently needs to be re-configured or something - a friend of mine of mine came over and had a look at it and said that the problem was the router and the modem aren't communicating with one another. We've called Dell tech support or whatever and they are all a bunch of FOREIGN people with knowledge less than or equal to my own. The router is a Dell 2350. Anyone out there with expertise in this area that can help? Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!if i were to take a quick guess...sounds like you were POSSIBLE set up with ENCRYPTION with key inplace, then it reset to default w/o encryption, but your devices are still set for encryption.

first try these steps in order.

1. unplug power to all modem, ROUTERS, computers, and xbox
2. go take a walk, 5 mins is good
3. plug in cable modem...wait 3 minutes...see if you get "internet or WAN led light"
4. plug in router...wait 3 minutes
5. plug in/turn on computers/xbox

Solve : IBM Network Printer 24?

Answer»

I am trying to find a network card for an IBM Network Printer 24. On the back of the printer on the label it says machine type 4324. I've tried looking on Google and most of the time it comes up with HP JetDirects. Will HP Jet Direct cards work in an IBM printer? I was asked to look up cards for this printer to see if it would be feasable to start using it again. (This printer was in our warehouse and if it's cost effective, we'd like to start using it again.)

We would like to hook it up using an ethernet cable.

Thanks for any help I can get!Have you tried contacting IBM?

Alan <>< Yes, I sent them an email yesterday after I posted here. I'm waiting for a reply back. I also found a card that I really think will work and I asked IBM about this as well and am waiting for a reply back. Here is the website: http://www.primelec.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/SFV/31734/vpid/3105901/vpcsid/0/rid/124330 I HOPE I hear from IBM soon.Good luck and let US know how it turns out.

Alan <>< IBM said that I had contacted the non-technical CUSTOMER service department through the email and said I needed to call their 800 number to talk to a technical person. I didn't want to do that since I'm sure they would try to sell me something. I kept searching and found a card that says it will work with a network printer 24:

If you go to this link and scroll down a little bit the card is displayed.
http://www.pcsurplusonline.com/viewprod.cfm?ID=6539

Just thought I'd let you guys know. Cant you just hook it up to a single pc then network all of the to it, so that it sends to that then the printer. No, I can't because this printer will be plugged directly into a wall jack. PLUS, it would be hard to have a pc hooked up to the printer that would be powered on all the time. (Incase I didn't state this before, this printer is going to be used in a corporate environment--not at home.) Thanks for the suggestion, though.Ether way, sorry just suggesting it. Quote

On the back of the printer on the label it says machine type 4324
4324 is the "model" number of IBM printer.
IBM 24 is the "product" number

wish I had more info as FAR as network setup
