Differentiate between indian history and european history |
Answer» tion:On the surface, Europe and India could not be more dissimilar: culturally, historically, demographically. Identifying common strategic interests is challenging partly DUE to an absence of geographic proximity, partly due to the contraction of Europe’s own capabilities. But India and Europe are not so different. Both have had to rethink their place in the WORLD as a result of China’s changed role on the GLOBAL stage. This has also FORCED them to re-examine their relationships with global players like the United States, Russia, and Japan.A recent articlei in The Economist described politics in India as “big and messy: hundreds of millions of voters, from vastly different backgrounds, are bound to hold widely divergent views. Concerns at local and state level often trump national ones, and national affairs can appear as an amalgam of assorted local rivalries.” Such a description could EASILY be used for Europe’s own situation where 27 member states vie to get their competing national interests onto Brussels’ agenda of priorities. |

Points on qutub minar |
Answer» Standing tall at 73 m, the Qutub Minar is the tallest brick minaret in the world. It is considered to be the Tower of Victory, built by Qutubuddin Aibak in the 12TH century to mark the end of rule by the last Hindu Kingdom. The Qutub Minar was built in three stages by three rulers of Delhi (Qutab-ud-din Aibak built ONE storey followed by his successor, Shams-ud-din Iltutmish who built three storeys more and finally Firoze Shah Tughlak who built the FINAL and fifth storey) and was finally completed in the 14th centuryThere is a mosque called Quwwat-Ul-Islam, built in the same compound as the minaret. Though in ruins, it is noted to be the first mosque built in India. There are 379 stairs inside the minaret to reach the top. The first Indian monument to have an E-ticket facility. This minaret is definitely one of India’s assets, not only has it survived damages from an earthquake from the 16th century, but it has also survived being struck by lightning twice in the 14th century. In the 19th century, there was a sixth storey to be added to the minar, a cupola, which was brought down since it didn’t look appealing. There is a 2,000 years OLD iron pillar in the complex that hasn’t rusted in over two centuries. There are more than half a dozen other minor monuments in the Qutub Minar Complex, that include mosques, tombs and pillars. In the 14th century, Alauddin Khilji commissioned another, taller, and more beautiful minaret. However, the construction stopped soon after his death. What remains today resembles a stub of the intended minaret. |

What do you know about the drinage system of the Indus valley the civilization. |
Answer» The most unique aspect of planning during the Indus Valley civilization was the system of underground drainage. The main sewer, 1.5 METERS deep and 91 cm across, connected to many north-south and east-west sewers. It was made from bricks smoothened and joined together seamlessly. The expert masonry kept the sewer watertight. Drops at regular intervals acted like an automatic cleaning device.A wooden screen at the end of the drains HELD back solid wastes. Liquids entered a CESS poll made of radial bricks. Tunnels carried the waste liquids to the main channel connecting the dockyard with the river estuary. Commoner houses had baths and drains that EMPTIED into underground soakage jars. |
