Study of inscription is

Answer»

Answer:

Epigraphy, "inscription", is the study of inscriptions, or epigraphs, as writing; it is the science of identifying graphemes, clarifying their meanings, classifying their uses according to dates and cultural contexts, and drawing conclusions about the writing and the writers. Specifically excluded from epigraphy are the historical significance of an epigraph as a document and the artistic value of a literary composition.

A person using the methods of epigraphy is CALLED an epigrapher or epigraphist. For example, the Behistun inscription is an official document of the Achaemenid EMPIRE engraved on native rock at a location in Iran. Epigraphists are responsible for reconstructing, translating, and dating the trilingual inscription and finding any relevant circumstances. It is the work of historians, however, to determine and interpret the events recorded by the inscription as document. Often, epigraphy and history are competences practised by the same person.

An epigraph or epigram is any sort of text, from a single grapheme (such as marks on a pot that abbreviate the name of the merchant who shipped commodities in the pot) to a lengthy document (such as a treatise, a work of literature, or a hagiographic inscription). Epigraphy overlaps other competences such as numismatics or palaeography. When compared to books, most inscriptions are short. The media and the forms of the graphemes are diverse: engravings in stone or metal, scratches on rock, impressions in wax, embossing on cast metal, cameo or intaglio on precious stones, painting on ceramic or in fresco. Typically the material is durable, but the durability might be an accident of circumstance, such as the baking of a clay tablet in a conflagration.

The study of ideographic inscriptions, that is inscriptions representing an idea or concept, may also be called ideography. The German equivalent Sinnbildforschung was a SCIENTIFIC discipline in the Third Reich, but was later dismissed as being highly ideological.

Epigraphic research overlaps with the study of petroglyphs, which deals with specimens of pictographic, ideographic and logographic writing.

The study of ancient handwriting, usually in INK, is a separate FIELD, palaeography. Epigraphy also differs from iconography, as it is confines itself to meaningful symbols containing messages.

Merits of political comprtition and why this is merit

Answer»

Answer:

The 2018 U.S. midterm elections were fierce, expensive and full of upsets, with political newcomers ousting long-tenured incumbents and Democrats unseating Republicans to retake the House of Representatives.

That MAKES them an exemplary democratic exercise from a political science standpoint: American voters BOOTED the congressional representatives who they believed did not fight for their interests.

That’s exactly what elections are meant to do: Hold politicians accountable.

But it doesn’t work that way EVERYWHERE. In younger democracies, our research shows, a SUPERHEATED campaign with numerous candidates MAY actually impede democracy.

What do you unerdstand by the term lce age??

Answer»

Explanation:

An ice age is a long period of reduction in the temperature of the Earth's surface and atmosphere, RESULTING in the presence or expansion of continental and polar ice sheets and alpine glaciers. Earth's climate alternates between ice ages and GREENHOUSE periods, during which there are no glaciers on the PLANET. Earth is currently in the Quaternary GLACIATION, known in popular terminology as the Ice Age.[1] Individual pulses of cold climate within an ice age are termed "glacial periods" (or, alternatively, "glacials", "glaciations", "glacial stages", "stadials", "stades", or colloquially, "ice ages"), and intermittent WARM periods within an ice age are called "interglacials" or "interstadials", with both climatic pulses part of the Quaternary or other periods in Earth's history.[2]

Answer»

Explanation:

It is difficult to STUDY the structure of the Earth because the crust is too thick to drill all the way through. scientists need to study seismic waves made by earthquakes or man-made explosions.

We can say earth is still very active. Because the matter from deep INSIDE the mantle shoots up through volcanoes and fissures on the ocean floors and COOLS down to form the earths crust. In MANY regions on the earth, PART of the earths crust enters into and once again become molten.

47.

What are the flaws in a democratic govt?

Answer»

Explanation:

Democracy, like all political systems, have pros and cons.

One of the biggest pros of democracy is accountability. The government is forced to be held accountable to people in a truly democratic society as unpopular governments are simply voted out of power in a matter of years. In many African countries, dictators do not bother about the starving people in their country and carry out massacres like the Rwanda Genocide at will as they do not feel the need to be held accountable.

However, liberal democracy also has severe flaws which are as follows.

Tyranny of the masses: Democracies provide far-right radical groups with the opportunity to combine populism with nativism and authoritarianism. As a result, Donald Trump was able to win the US Election in 2016 and more recently, Narendra Modi was able to win the Indian elections in 2019. Both leaders see the minority as the enemies. Donald Trump introduced policies that MADE lives harder for immigrants. Narendra Modi also did several questionable things like the scrapping of Article 370 of the Indian constitution that resulted in MUSLIM-majority Kashmir being put under lockdown and the introduction of the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill that aims to single out Muslim immigrants.

Lack of long-term plans: Governments in democratic societies are unable to come up with long-term plans as they are constantly worried of being replaced in a few years. This is especially problematic in poor countries like India. India cannot come up with effective poverty-reduction plans as a result and, HENCE, has the highest number of poor in the world today.

Servant of the people: Governments in democratic societies are often referred to as the “servants of the people”. While that is often seen as a good thing, such is not necessarily true for a poor country like India where the people are more prone to archaic religious traditions and superstitions. It can be difficult to deal with issues like population control and ECONOMIC reforms that sometimes need to be dealt with an iron hand. China was able to bring down its population growth because of it's one-child policy. The Indian government does not go for such authoritative down-to-earth measures out of fear that their popularity could fall in the next election.
