What is the thickness of atmosphere?

Answer»

Answer:

Earth's atmosphere is about 300 miles (480 kilometers) thick, but most of it is WITHIN 10 miles (16 km) the surface. Air pressure decreases with ALTITUDE. At sea level, air pressure is about 14.7 pounds per square INCH (1 KILOGRAM per square centimeter).

Justice delayed is justice denied. Comment. (50 words)

Answer»

Answer:

A legal maxim is an established principle or proposition of law, and a species of aphorism and general maxim. The word is apparently a variant of the Latin maxima, but this latter word is not found in extant texts of Roman law with any denotation exactly analogous to that of a legal maxim in the Medieval or modern definition, but the treatises of many of the Roman jurists on regular definitiones and sententiae iuris are to some degree collections of maxims. Most of the Latin maxims originate from the Medieval era in European states that USED Latin as their legal language.

The attitude of early English commentators towards the maximal of the law was one of unmingled adulation. In Thomas Hobbes, DOCTOR and Student (p. 26), they are described as of the same strength and effect in the law as statutes. Not only, observes Francis Bacon in the Preface to his Collection of Maxims, will the use of maxims be in deciding doubt and helping soundness of judgment, but, further, in gracing argument, in correcting unprofitable subtlety, and reducing the same to a more sound and substantial sense of law, in reclaiming vulgar errors, and, generally, in the amendment in some measure of the very nature and complexion of the whole law.[1]

A similar note was sounded in Scotland; and it has been well observed that a glance at the pages of Morrisons DICTIONARY or at other early reports will show how frequently in the older Scots law questions respecting the rights, remedies and liabilities of individuals were determined by an immediate reference to legal maxims.

In later times, less value has been attached to the maxims of the law, as the development of civilization and the increasing complexity of business relations have shown the necessity of qualifying the propositions which they ENUNCIATE. But both historically and practically, they must always possess interest and value.

Answer»

ANSWER:

Answer»

ANSWER:

If we become president What we wish to improve our nation

Answer»

Explanation:

I always think its strange that the wealthiest people who need it the least get the best education. What about having a means tested education system. The bottom 20% of children are ENROLLED at schools which offer the equivalent to what the best private schools are offering.

The richest will always be able to buy a good education leaving the middle majority to have a better education In the existing schools without the worst students bringing everything down.

The new elite schools for the poor will be challenging environments for teachers, with only the best of the best teachers being qualified to work there receiving higher wages, maybe £80.000, for the added EXPERTISE and stress expected. It's radical, but we have to stop the poverty cycle and education is one of the best ways to do it.

Prisons: I believe there are a small number of criminals who are incorrigible and can't be helped so this is not really aimed a them, but, I think particularly for young PRISONERS why not use say a 3 YEAR prison sentence as a university course/vocational course. Why let them rot in a cell doing nothing, when they could use that time to become qualified in something and even financially induce employers to give them a chance of job when they are released. It seems such a waste.

Most criminals have little education and little hope of a decent job when released so many of them end up back inside again. This would help not just prisoners, but the whole of society by reducing offences.

Drugs: all drugs should be legalised. I am not saying this as a 'drugs are great', 'drugs are harmless' 'alcohol is worse' point of view. They can kill, which makes it more senseless to have them in the hands of criminals. It's just common sense. I remember reading around half of all crime the in the UK is linked to drugs, the trade itself and people stealing to feed habits. The prisons are full of drug addicts.

If legalised they would have a quality control, be fully TAXED, and criminals would be taken out of the picture completely. People are buying drugs whether they are legal or not, only legalising marijuana does not work as all the other drugs, the real money makers for criminals, are still illegal, essentially the drug trade carries on regardless.

It would be a tough thing for many people to accept, but drug addiction is a medical issue, not criminal. The worst addictive drugs Heroin/Crack should be free on the NHS like any other medicine (like they used to be before 1967). The money the police are saving not prosecuting drug dealers/addicts could then be spent on properly educating what the dangers of these drugs are and specialist medical centres to treat and cure addicts.

What are parralels and meridians

Answer»

Answer: Parallels of latitudes and MERIDIANS of longitudes are the IMAGINARY lines used for dividing the Earth into different sections. The intersection of longitudes and latitudes FORMS a grid. This grid can be used for locating places on Earth. Latitudes are called as parallel because they never intersect with each other. This divides the Earth into the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. The longitudes are called as meridians because they do intersect with each at a CERTAIN point and they are used for dividing the Earth into Eastern and Western Hemisphere.
