Limitations of mendeleev

Answer» Limitations of Mandeleev’s periodic table : Inspite of many advantages, the Mendeleev’s periodic table has certain defects also. Some of these are given below ;(A) Position of hydrogen : Position of hydrogen in the periodic table is uncertain. It has been placed in 1A group with alkali metals, but certain properties of hydrogen resemble those of halogens. So, it may be placed in the group for halogens as well.(B) Position of isotopes : Isotopes are the atoms of the same element having different atomic masses. Therefore, according to Mendeleev’s classification these should be placed at different places depending upon their atomic masses. For example, hydrogen isotopes with atomic masses 1,2 and 3 should be placed at three places. However, isotopes have not been given separate places in the periodic table because of their similar properties.(C) Anomalous pairs of elements “ In certain pair of elements, the increasing order of atomic masses was not obeyed. In these, Mendeleev placed elements according to similarities in their properties and not in increasing order of their atomic masses. For example :– The atomic mass of argon is 39.9 and that of potassium 39.1 But argon is placed before potassium in the periodic table.– Tellurium (at. mass = 127.6 ) is placed before iodine (at. mass = 126.9)(D) Some similar elements are separated, in the periodic table. For example copper (Cu) and mercury (Hg), barium (Ba) and lead (Pb).

What is phylogeny

Answer» A phylogeny (or a tree of life) is a theory about how organisms are related to one another through evolutionary time. Phylogenies are based on the assumption that more closely related species will be more similar to one another, and they are commonly built using genetic sequences or physical characters.
Evolution history of an organism.

what is micelles formation ??

Answer» The formation of a micelle is a response to the amphipathic nature of fatty acids, meaning that they contain both hydrophilic regions as well as hydrophobic regions.

Why gold and silver does not corrode in air

Answer» Gold and silver are least reactive metal in the reactivity series of metal and do not lose electron easily. Hence they do not corrode and used for making jewellery.

What are plant hormone ? and define it all

Answer» Plant hormones are chemicals that regulate plant growth.Plant hormones are signal molecules produced within the plant, and occur in extremely low concentrations.Plant hormones can be defined as a chemical messenger, which plays a vital role in controlling the entire life process and other activities in the plant cell like seed germination, ripening of the fruit, growth, flowering and lot more.A plant hormone is also referred as phytohormones. Drought, nutrients, temperature, light, and stress are the environmental factors that affect the production of plant growth hormone.Auxin :It is also referred as IAA- indole-3-acetic acid. It was the first phytohormones to be recognized. This plant growth regulator plays an important role in the growth and development of a plant.\xa0Cytokinins: Cytokinins are involved in promoting cell division (cytokinesis) hence it is referred to as Cytokinins. Zeatin is a naturally occurring plant growth hormone, which is isolated from corn plant. Cytokinins are present in all cell division sites including root tips, leaves, fruits and seeds.Gibberellins: Gibberellins are the most abundantly found hormone in plants. There are more than 70 gibberellins isolated. They are GA1, GA2, GA3 and so on. The GA3 Gibberellic acid is the most widely studied plant growth regulators.Ethylene: Ethylene is an organic compound and gaseous substance, which is produced from amino acid. It is present in large amount and is mainly produced by plants that are under stress. Ethylene helps in stimulating fruit ripening and determining the *** of a flower.Abscisic acid: It is a chemical messenger produced by other parts of a plant to indicate whether the plant is experiencing water stress, this signaling is mainly produced by drought roots and leaves.

What is newland octave?

Answer» Newland’s law of octaves: In the year 1866,John Newlands arranged the elements in the order of increasing atomic masses. Till then only 56 elements were known to us. He started with hydrogen which has the lowest atomic mass and finally ended at thorium which was the element known to have highest atomic mass at that time. He noticed that every eighth element exhibits similar properties as compared to the first element. He called this law as ‘Newland’s Law of Octaves’.According to Newland’s Law of Octaves, as the observed properties of lithium and sodium are same, sodium is placed at the eighth position with respect to lithium.

Describe the Digestion of food in small intestine

Answer» Partially digested food, or chyme, from the stomach is mixed with bile from the liver and pancreatic juice from the pancreas to complete its digestion in the duodenum. The jejunum is the middle section of the small intestine that serves as the primary site of nutrient absorption
2880.

Describe in brief the digestion of food in the small intestine

Answer» The small intestine is a long tube that is approximately 18 feet long (6 meters). The small intestine is called small because the diameter or the width of the tube is much less than the large intestine. The parts of the small intestine include the duodenum, jejunum and the ileum. The duodenum is a segment of intestine between the stomach and the jejunum that is very active in digestion where many different enzymes mix from the stomach, liver, gallbladder and pancreas. The small intestine is the location in the body where the majority of the nutrients from ingested food are absorbed. Whereas the stomach is responsible for the churning and mechanical breakdown of food, the small intestine is very important for absorption. Digested food passes through the wall of the intestine into the blood vessels which then distribute the nutrition first to the liver and then through the rest of the body.

How is water transported through xylem

Answer» Plants have two systems for the transportation of substances - using two different types of transport tissue-Xylem and phloem. Xylem transports water and solutes from the roots to the leaves.Xylem vessels are involved in the movement of water through a plant - from its roots to its leaves via the stem.During this process:\tWater is absorbed from the soil through root hair cells.\tWater moves by osmosis from root cell to root cell until it reaches the xylem.\tIt is transported through the xylem vessels up the stem to the leaves.\tIt evaporates from the leaves (transpiration).\tThe xylem tubes are made from dead xylem cells which have the cell walls removed at the end of the cells, forming tubes through which the water and dissolved mineral ions can flow. The rest of the xylem cell has a thick, reinforced cell wall which provides strength.

Why green plants are called autotrophs

Answer» Because that r autotrophs
An autotroph is an organism that can produce its own food using light, water, carbon dioxide, or other chemicals. Because autotrophs produce their own food, they are sometimes called producers. Plants are autotroph because they produce their own food.
