What are the techniques for measuring correction ? |
Answer» Measurement error affecting the independent variables in regression models is a common problem in MANY scientific areas. It is well known that the implications of ignoring measurement errors in inferential procedures may be substantial, often turning out in unreliable results. Many different measurement error correction techniques have been suggested in literature since the 80's. Most of them require many assumptions on the involved variables to be satisfied. However, it may be USUALLY very hard to check whether these assumptions are satisfied, mainly because of the LACK of information about the unobservable and mismeasured phenomenon. Thus, alternatives based on weaker assumptions on the variables may be preferable, in that they offer a gain in robustness of results. In this paper, we PROVIDE a review of robust techniques to correct for measurement errors affecting the covariates. ATTENTION is paid to methods which share properties of robustness against misspecifications of relationships between variables. Techniques are grouped according to the kind of the underlying modeling assumptions and the inferential methods. Details about the techniques are given and their applicability is discussed. The basic framework is the epidemiological setting, where literature about the measurement error phenomenon is very substantial. |

Suppose both markets are competitive. We begin in a situation in which both sheet-iron workers and steel-pipe workers earn $20 per hour. Assume that workers can switch easily between the two jobs.a. Draw diagrams showing the supply and demand for labor in each market.b. Now suppose there is a sharp increase in the demand for steel pipe. Explain what happens in the market for steel-pipe workers.c. If the employment of steel-pipe workers increased in part (b), explain where the extra workers came from.d. What effect does the event in part (b) have on the market for sheet-iron workers?e. What is the long-run effect of the shock on the relative wages in the two types of jobs?It is common to hear comments like “Why do baseball players earn millions of dollars a year for their negligible contribution to society while major contributors—such as schoolteachers, police officers, firefighters, and ambulance drivers—earn barely enough to survive?” Can you offer an answer based on what was discussed in efficiency of factor markets? |

History of Sikkim in EnglishThe history of Sikkim, an area in present-day North-East India, began in 1642 as a kingdom established when India and Nepal were still many princely states with many rulers at that time and had not unified to the present Union of India and present country of Nepal. At that time Sikkim had already solidified into country then with a king known as a Chogyal or dharma king, and till 16 May 1975 was an independent country ruled by the monarchs. Sikkim had twelve kings; Palden Thondup Namgyal was the last king of Independent Sikkim. There was contacts between ancient Hindus and Tibetans, followed by the establishment of a Buddhist kingdom or Chogyal in the 17th century. Sikkim emerged as a polity in its own right against a backdrop of incursions from Tibet and Bhutan, during which the kingdom enjoyed varying degrees of independence. In the early 18th century, the British Empire sought to establish trade routes with Tibet, leading Sikkim to fall under British suzerainty until independence in 1947. Initially, Sikkim remained an independent country, until it merged with India in 1975 after a decisive referendum. Many provisions of the Indian constitution had to be altered to accommodate the international treaties between Sikkim and India. |
