A visit to a slum area repoet |
Answer» ts of the cities, where these slums are located, are quite congested, as they are over populated. The conditions of the slum areas in metropolitan cities have deteriorated to such an extent due to the high density of population that the PEOPLE there hardly enjoy even the basic amenities. The lanes are narrow and the houses are nothing but a single room tenement without the facilities of an open courtyard or an enclosure, thus depriving the people of natural gifts like sunshine and air.In such areas, people use common latrines and water taps. Some of the slum areas do not even have single rooms, they are thick clusters of small, dilapidated mud huts, the roofs and ceilings of which are made of scraps of wood, gunny sacks, metal or some sort of waste material. Sometimes, 10 to 12 people LIVE, eat and sleep in the same room. The streets are narrow and the sewage water stagnates in open surface drains, which emit bad smell. The children often play in places where the drains are used as open latrines.Living conditions in many urban slums are WORSE than those in the poorest rural areas of the country. This can be attributed pardy to the slum’s exceptionally unhealthy environment. Many of the most serious diseases in cities are ‘environmental’ because they are transmitted through air, water, soil and food or through insect or animal vectors. The concentration of people in areas where the provision of water, sanitation, garbage collection and health care is inadequate creates the conditions where infectious and parasitic diseases thrive and spread. Around HALF the slum population is suffering from one or more of the diseases associated with inadequate provision of water and sanitation.Despite the exterior appearance of chaos, slum LIFE is highly structured, with many economic, religious, caste and political interests expressed in the daily activity. Living conditions are extremely difficult, and slum dwellers fear the constant threat of having their homes bulldozed in municipal ‘slum clearance’ efforts. Nonetheless, slum life is animated by a strong sense of joie de vivre.please mark me as brainliest . |

National park Long paragraph |
Answer» l Parks'NATIONAL parks are areas of great natural beauty giving opportunity for open-air recreation, established so that national beauty can be preserved and enhanced, and so that the enjoyment of the SCENERY by the public can be promoted''.This is the aim of the National Parks established by the government, and although a brilliant idea in theory, the above statement has posed a series or serious problems. Is it possible for the National Parks to be enjoyed by the general public whilst also preserving the beauty and peace of these places? Are the National Parks loved to death? As a result of this 60% of industry in the Lake Districtis tourism related. Unfortunately the tourism is seasonal, and come winter time when less people are visiting the area, most income is reduced and business is highly unreliable. Many tourists wish to buy holiday homes in the area, meaning that locals can no longer afford the property prices and are being forced to live elsewhere. Meanwhile, the problem of seasonal population increases. But the townspeople are reliant on the income from tourism. These small villages and towns which are aimed for the tourist TRADE are known as 'honey pots' (as in bees to honey), and face more problems aside from property prices. The ROADS in these small areas can't cope with the numbers of people travelling to the Lake DISTRICT(which is close to the M6) in cars. The car parks and coach parks fill up by 11 am. The traffic fills the towns with noise pollution and air pollution. The people leave the roads in bad condition. And then the tourists visit the mountains and walks and the problem grows. |

Discuss the problems of solid waste management in India. Plz answer my question quickly and urgently |
Answer» ry easy to understand that someone seeing the term ‘solid waste incinerator’ could very easily dismiss it as being entirely unsuitable for their own waste incineration requirements. Actually it is the WORD ‘solid’ that causes the confusion, because the reality is that if the waste material is not composed virtually entirely of liquid or sludge etc, then the CHANCES are that is classified as solid. Consequently the Matthews Environmental Solutions’ waste incineration range, which comprises all the models within our Surefire® and Allburn® ranges can be classed as being solid waste incinerator technology. The term solid waste can also be applied to animal carcasses, so in fact EVEN our pet CREMATION models can also be defined as being PART of our solid waste incinerator range. |

Differentiate between chemical and photochemical smog |
Answer» dustrial SMOG and photochemical smog are forms of AIR pollution. Although both appear to the eye as yellow-brown haze, they differ in two KEY ways: chemistry and composition. Industrial smog typically exists in urban areas where factories burn fossil fuels such as coal, which creates smoke and sulfur dioxide that mix with FOG droplets to create a thick blanket of haze close to the GROUND. Photochemical smog occurs in drier, sunny areas and forms because of increased usage of all fossil fuels, including gasoline, and the burning of trees and organic waste. These emissions combine in the presence of sunlight to create a noxious environment, which can be harmful to human health. According to the National Institutes of Heath, both industrial smog and photochemical smog can create major health risks, including asthma, lung tissue damage, bronchial infections and heart problems. |

Decribe 2 ways in which deep mining is different from opencast mining |
Answer» ly, mining projects can be categorized into two different sectors: open plan and underground mining. Although the location of ore deposits ultimately determine which mining method will be most effective, mine project management also determine whether excavation costs won’t exceed profits when considering how deep the project will run. As mining below 2km incur excavation costs that often exceed profits, open pit mining can be considerably less expensive. Mining consultants in South Africa provide mining solutions that help determine the most efficient course of action. These two vastly different mining methods employ different machinery, processes and strategies and carry different CONSEQUENCES: Open pit mining This mining method employs bulldozers and other earthmoving machinery to strip soil COVERING shallow veins of ore deposits. Ore, dirt and other debris is moved out of the mining area, or pit, with large mine trucks, making room for further excavation. Once the project has run its course and profitable ore deposits have been depleted, the area is FILLED in with earth again. Reclamation work to restore the surface is gone about in different ways: First, an environmental impact assessment is made. Rehabilitation projects are then put in motion, aimed at restoring forestlands, flora and fauna. Finally, follow-up reports are compiled, assessing whether the LANDSCAPE’s ecology is returning to normal. Underground mining What makes underground mining so expensive is getting valuable ore back to the surface, whether through a horizontal or vertical excavation passage. Compared to open pit mining, which often mines soil, gravel, and inexpensive ores, underground mining is targeted at more valuable ore deposits. This mining method does, however, become considerably less profitable the deeper the ore deposits are located. Another downside of underground mining is the danger labourers who work underground are exposed to. Radiation (from naturally-occurring radioactive materials) is a health risk all underground personnel face, as oxygen circulates the underground passages with difficulty. Most radon gas atoms are directed to the surface if ventilation processes are fully functional. The intricate layout of underground passages do, however, increase the risk for pockets of gas remaining underground, endangering mine workers in the area. Mining engineering consultants can provide aid in CURBING this problem and ensuring that mining will be done as safely as possible. |

What are the causes of traffic jams in big cities? Give solutions. |
Answer» CCORDING TO ME::: A variety of serious problems caused by excessive road traffic in many big cities have concerned the public. It is essential to find out the root causes behind this PHENOMENON and work out some SOLUTIONS. The increase in population in these big cities is one of the MAJOR causes. Every year in China, millions of people migrant to big cities like Shanghai, Beijing and Guandong for better lives. They are attracted by more job opportunities, higher educational levels and more enjoyable lifestyles there. This increase consequently adds to the traffic BURDENS in these cities. To tackle this problem, I suggest the government encourage citizens to live and work in their hometowns rather than go to big cities. To do this, the government should invest more on less DEVELOPED areas to improve the infrastructure and thus living standard there. They should also make the best use of the advantages in these less developed areas to create more job opportunities. For example, in some mountainous regions where there are beautiful scenic spots, the tourism industry can be developed. Another major cause of this problem is the growing popularity of private vehicles. As the rich have more disposable incomes, convenience and speed have become their priority. But since private cars can carry far fewer passengers than a bus can, there will be a sharp rise in road traffic. Therefore, buses and other public transport should be made more popular. The government should invest more in building subways and sky railways, and providing more buses. They should also strive to bring the cost of public transport down to make it economically more attractive. The above are my analysis of this problem along with my proposals to address it. I hope they can be helpful. |
