Lord Lytton’s Vernacular Press Act placed restrictions on Indian Press and curbed the freedom of speech and expression during the British Rule. Is Indian Press and digital media free now? Do we now have more freedom of speech and expression? Give proper reasons to support your view. |
|
Answer» Hi mate.Hope it HELPS youMark me brainliest Explanation:In British INDIA, the Vernacular Press Act (1878) was enacted to curtail the freedom of the Indian press and prevent the expression of criticism toward British policies—notably, the opposition that had grown with the outset of the Second Anglo-Afghan War (1878–80).[1] The Act was proposed by LORD LYTTON, then Viceroy of India, and was unanimously passed by the Viceroy's Council on 14 March 1878. The act excluded English-language publications as it was meant to control seditious writing in 'publications in Oriental languages' everywhere in the country, except for the South. Thus the British totally discriminated against the (non-English language) Indian Press. The act EMPOWERED the government to impose restrictions on the press in the following ways:1. Modelled on the Irish press act, this act provided the government with extensive rights to censor reports and editorials in the Vernacular press.2. From now on the government kept regular track of Vernacular newspapers.3. When a report published in the newspaper was judged as seditious, the newspaper was warned. |

Describe the condition of peasants that lead to French revolution. No google pasted answers❌❌❎brilliant answer will be marked as brainlist ✔️ |
|
Answer» Answered Explanation:The circumstances leading to the outbreak of revolutionary protest in France were:Social Inequality: French society in the EIGHTEENTH century was divided into three estates namely The CLERGY, The nobility and third estates which comprise peasants, officials and small business. It was only third estates that pay taxes. Clergy and nobility were exempt from taxes.Subsistence Crisis: The population of France also increased from 23 million in 1715 to 28 million in 1789. Food grains were now in great demand. PRICE of bread shot up. Wages did not keep pace with rising prices. This led to subsistence crisis.Economic Problems: Long years of war had drained the financial resources of France. France had a debt of more than 2 billion livres. To meet its regular expenses, such as the cost of maintaining an army, the court, running government offices or universities, the state was forced to increase taxes.Strong Middle Class: The middle class emerged educated and wealthy during the eighteenth century. They BELIEVED that no group in society should be given privileges by birth. Ideas of equality and freedom were put forward by philosophers. The ideas of these philosophers were discussed intensively in salons and coffee houses and spread among people.Immediate Causes: On 5 may, 1789, Louis XVI called together an assembly of Estates General to pass proposals for new taxes. Third estates protested against this proposal but as each estate have one vote, the king rejected this APPEAL. They walked out of the assembly. |

What was reign of terror? Mention four important changes made by Maximilian Robespierre in France under his rule? |
| Answer» EXPLANATION:Reign of Terror, also CALLED the Terror, French La Terreur, period of the French Revolution from September 5, 1793, to July 27, 1794 (9 Thermidor, year II). With civil war spreading from the Vendée and hostile armies surrounding France on all sides, the Revolutionary government decided to make “Terror” the ORDER of the day (September 5 decree) and to take harsh measures against those suspected of being enemies of the Revolution (nobles, priests, and hoarders). In Paris a WAVE of executions followed. In the provinces, representatives on mission and surveillance committees instituted local terrors. The Terror had an economic side embodied in the Maximum, a price-control measure demanded by the lower classes of Paris, and a religious side that was embodied in the program of de-Christianization pursued by the followers of Jacques Hébert.ORWhat was Robespierre role in the French Revolution? As the leading member of the Committee of Public Safety from 1793, Robespierre encouraged the execution, mostly by GUILLOTINE, of more than 17,000 enemies of the Revolution. ... In April 1790, he presided over the Jacobins, a powerful political club that promoted the ideas of the French Revolution. | |

How did the leaders of the nationalist movement use the vernacular press to arouse nationalist feelings? Explain the importance of literature in the spread of nationalism. |
|
Answer» socio-religious reform movements of the 19th century were great pioneers of Indian nationalism. The IMPACT of western education, which led to a rational, humanitarian and scientific approach to life, made the educated Indians realise the need to reform their religion and SOCIETY. These movements touched almost every segment of Indian society. In the social sphere these movements worked for the abolition of caste system, child marriage, dowry system, purdah system, sati and infanticide. In the religious sphere, these reform movements combated religious superstitions, attacked idolatry, polytheism and hereditary priesthood. These movements fought for individual liberty and social equality.Prominent reform movements were Brahmo Samaj (founded by Raja Rammohan Roy), Arya Samaj (founded by Swami Dayanand Saraswati), Ramakrishna Mission (founded by Swami Vivekanand) and SATYA Shodhak Samaj (founded by Jyotiba Phule. b) The Press: Newspapers such as the Amrit Bazar Patrika, The Bengali, The Tribune, The Times of India, The Hindu were prominent. Newspapers in vernacular language were also printed. It was through the press that the message of patriotism and modern LIBERAL ideals of liberty, freedom, equality spread among the people. The press daily criticised the unjust policies of the British. It made possible to exchange views among different sections of the Indian society and to organise political movements. It made Indians aware of the political and social development of the outside world and shape their own policies and programmes. c) Repressive Colonial Policies: The British had conquered India to promote their own interests and therefore , followed such repressive policies so as to make India submissive to the needs of the British. Lord Lytton introduced the Vernacular Press Act (1878) and the Indian Arms Act. The Vernacular Press Act did not allow vernacular papers to publish any material that might excite a feeling of dissatisfaction against the British government. The Indian Arms Act of 1879 made it a criminal offence for Indians to carry arms without license. The maximum age limit for the Indian Civil Service examination was reduced from 21 to 19 years, THUS making it difficult for the Indians to compete for it. These repressive policies of the British provided a stimulus to political agitation and quickened the pace of Indian nationalism.HOPING THIS WILL HELP YOU PLZ MARK AS BRAINLIEST AND FOLLOW ME |

Answer» Dravidian ARCHITECTURE or the South Indian temple style is an architectural idiom in Hindu temple architecture that emerged in the southern part of the Indian subcontinent or South India and in Sri Lanka, reaching its final form by the sixteenth century. It is seen in Hindu temples, and the most distinctive DIFFERENCE from north Indian styles is the use of a shorter and more pyramidal tower over the garbhagriha or sanctuary called a vimana, where the north has taller towers, usually bending inwards as they rise, called shikharas. However, for modern visitors to larger temples the dominating feature is the high gopura or gatehouse at the edge of the compound; large temples have several, dwarfing the vimana; these are a much more RECENT development. There are numerous other distinct features.Tamil style temples are characterized by Yali pillarsThe Annamalaiyar Temple in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil NaduMentioned as one of three styles of temple BUILDING in the ancient book Vastu shastra, the majority of the existing structures are located in the Southern Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. Various kingdoms and empires such as the Cholas, the Chera, the Kakatiyas, the Pandyas, the Pallavas, the Gangas, the Kadambas, the Rashtrakutas, the Chalukyas, the Hoysalas, and Vijayanagara EMPIRE among others have made substantial contribution to the evolution of the Dravida architecture. |
