A company owns a refrigeration system whose refrigeration capacity is 200 tons (1 ton ofrefrigeration = 211kJ/min), and you are to design a forced-air cooling system for fruits whose diameters do not exceed 7 cm under the following conditions: The fruits are to be cooled from 28°C to an average temperature of 8°C. The air temperature is to remain above –2°C and below 10°C at all times, and the velocity of air approaching the fruits must remain under 2 m/s. The cooling section can be as wide as 3.5 m and as high as 2 m. Assuming reasonable values for the average fruit density, specific heat, and porosity (the fraction of air volume in a box), recommend reasonable values for the quantities related to the thermal aspects of the forced-air cooling, including (a) how long the fruits need to remain in the cooling section; (b) the length of the cooling section; (c) the air velocity approaching the cooling section; (d) the product cooling capacity of the system; (e) the volume flow rate of air; and ( f ) the type of heat exchanger for the evaporator and the surface area on the air side.

Answer»

Answer:

Li will FORM the most basic oxide and N will form the most ACIDIC oxide

Explanation:

this is because Li is basic in nature. it releases OH- ions when it COMES in contact with water. Li²O is a basic oxide.

similarly, N is acidic in nature. it releases H+ ions when it is dissolved with water. NO or NO² is an acidic oxide.

(a) The fennec may be the world's smallest fox, but it sports outlandishly large ears! In fact, relative to body SIZE, it has the largest ears of any member of the canid family. It uses those big ears to listen for sounds of PREY in the sand. The ears also help dispel body heat to keep the fox cool.

To determine the pHof the givenzampley using pH paper or Universalindicatorwhat is the aim

Answer»

The nature of the chemicals used in laboratories is either basic, acidic or neutral. This characteristic depends on the ions they RELEASE. A CHEMICAL is said to be acidic if it releases H+ ions in its aqueous solutions. A chemical is said to be basic if it releases OH– ions in its aqueous solutions. In this experiment, we will learn how to find the pH of acids and bases.

Aim:

To determine the pH of the given SAMPLES using pH paper or universal indicator. The samples whose pH has to be determined are-

Dilute CH3COOH

Dilute NaOH

Salt NaCl

Dilute NaHCO3

Water

Lemon juice

Materials required:

Six test tubes

Test tube stand

Dilute acid CH3COOH

Dilute base NaOH

Salt NaCl (preparation: dissolve 1 gram salt in 10 mL distilled water)

Water

Lemon juice

Dilute NaHCO3

Glass rod

Measuring cylinder (10 mL)

STANDARD pH colour chart

pH paper

Glass rod

Dropper

Universal indicator

Theory:

What is pH?

pH is a measure of hydrogen ion concentration to determine the alkalinity or acidity of a solution.

If the pH value of a solution is less than 7 it is an acidic solution

If the pH value of a solution is greater than 7 it is a basic solution

If the pH value of a solution is equal to 7 it is a neutral solution

What is pH scale?

The pH scale consists of VALUES which range from 0 (very acidic) to 14 (very alkaline). The numbers on the scale help to determine the hydrogen ion concentration.

What is pH paper?

pH paper can help us know if a solution is basic, acidic or neutral. When the pH paper is dipped into a solution whose pH has to be determined, a colour will be developed. This colour is compared with the standard pH colour chart. Instead of pH paper, we can also use universal indicator paper or universal indicator solution.

What is universal indicator?

A universal indicator is a mix of pH indicator solutions that are designed to determine the pH of solutions over a wide range of values. Put a drop of solution on the universal pH indicator paper. The colour developed on the paper is matched with the standard pH colour chart.

Explanation:

Short Inspirational stories are powerful reads;

The GREAT THING about them is that they’re so easy to digest, and there’s always a moral at the END of the story.

Whether they’re true stories or not is ANOTHER thing, as many of them are legends supposedly hundreds of years old.

However, the stories that I’m talking about are so powerful and inspirational that many of them REALLY do get you thinking and even leave you speechless at times.
