How to make periscope using plastic bottles

Answer»

Once the glue has dried carefully cut out the template along the solid lines being careful not to cut off the end flaps.

Using the ruler as a guide, ask an adult to score down the dotted lines with the craft knife.

Fold all of the scored lines inwards. Folding over the ruler will help KEEP the folds straight.

Fold the periscope over to make a tube, glue and secure with masking tape if needed.

Glue the flaps at the end of the periscope down.

Glue and insert a mirror into each opening of the periscope.

The edges of the periscope can sometimes end up LOOKING a bit untidy in the places where you scored it. You can tidy them up with a little masking tape if you like.

It’s a good idea to paint your periscope in a neutral color or something that will blend into its surroundings, I will be using mine outdoors so I went with a rich deep green color.

For the ultimate secret STAKEOUT, you may want to consider camouflaging your periscope with a little of its surroundings.

Good luck on your mission, and I hope you have a successful stake out!

What is disaster management 15 lines

Answer»

Disaster Management refers to how we can protect or preserve maximum number of lives and property during a natural disaster. Disaster management plans are multi-layered and are aimed to address such issues as floods, hurricanes, fires, and EVEN mass failure of utilities or the rapid spread of disease. India has been traditionally vulnerable to the natural disasters on the account of its unique geo-climatic conditions. Floods, droughts, cyclones, earthquakes and landslides would have been a recurrent phenomena. About 59% of the landmass is prone to earthquakes of VARIOUS intensities; over 40 million hectares is prone to floods; about 8% of the total area is prone to cyclones and 69% of the area is susceptible to drought. In the decade 1990-2000, an average of about 4344 people lost their lives and about 30 million people were affected by disasters every year.

The loss in terms of private, community and public assets has been astronomical.At the global level, there has been considerable concern over natural disasters. Even as substantial scientific and material progress is made, the loss of lives and property due to disasters has not decreased. In fact, the human toll and economic losses have mounted up. It was in this background that the United Nations General Assembly, in 1989, declared the decade 1990-2000 as the International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction with the objective to reduce loss of lives and property and restrict socio-economic damage through concerted international action, was specially certified in developing countries.

The super cyclone in Orissa in October, 1999 and the Bhuj earthquake in Gujarat in January, 2001 underscored the need to adopt a multi-dimensional endeavour involving diverse scientific, ENGINEERING, financial and social processes; the need to adopt multi disciplinary and multi-sectoral approach and incorporation of risk reduction in the developmental plans and strategies.

A force of 2 kg weight acts on body of mass 4.9 kg calculate its acceleration

Answer»

Force in newton is equal to kilogram WEIGHT into GRAVITATION due to gravity that is 2 into 9.8 now ACCELERATION is equal to force UPON MASS that is 4 m per second square

45.

calculate the value of acceleration due to gravity on Moon given mass of moon is equal to 7.4 into 10 raise to 22 kg, radius on moon is equal to 1740 km

Answer» MASS of moon is, M = 7.31 × 1022 kg

Radius of moon is, R = 1.7 × 106 m

So, acceleration due to GRAVITY of moon is, gm = GM/R2

=> gm = (6.67 × 10-11)(7.31 × 1022)/(1.7 × 106)2

=> gm = 1.68 m/s2

Q1 how does sound help us? Q2 how is sound produce? Q3 how does it travel from one place to another? Q4 how do we hear sound?

Answer»

1. Whether driving in the car or reading books in the library , sound gives us information about the WORLD around us. It serves two basic functions : SIGNALLING and communication.

2. Sound is PRODUCED when something vibrates. The vibrating body causes the medium around it to vibrate. Vibrations in air are called traveling longitudinal waves , which we can hear.

3. Sound is a longitudinal wave and it needs medium to travel . The sound we hear everyday TRAVELS through air. And that travels by compression and decompression of air.

4. There are 6 basic steps of how do we hear sound:

a. The sound transfers into the ear canal and causes the ear drum to move.

b. The ear drum vibrates with different sounds.

c. The sound vibrations make their way through the ossicles to the cochlea.

d. Sound vibrations make the fluid in the cochlea travel like ocean waves.

e. The vibrations in the fluid causes hair cells to move. The auditory nerves then picks up the neural signals created by the hair cells. The hair cells at one end of the cochlea transfer low pitch sound info and the hair cells at the other end of the cochlea transfer HIGH pitch sound info.

f. The auditory nerve then transmits the signal to brain which is then translated into recognizable and meaningful sound.

a stone dropped from edge of roof it passes a window to 2 m high in 0.1 seconds how far is the roof above the top of window

Answer»

The object is falling under GRAVITY. As it is MOVING towards the earth, Its acceleration is +g.

As it is dropped, It has initial velocity = 0 .
The stone passes the WINDOW of 2m high in 0.1s .

Let the distance between the ROOF and that window be " K " k
m and the time taken to reach that " k "m is t
That is k = 1/2gt² ( From the second equation of motion)

Given that, Stone passes through the window in 0.1 second.

So it travels k+2 m in t + 0.1seconds .
k + 2 = 1/2g(t+ 0.1)²

Substituting the value of k,
1/2gt² + 2 = 1/2g(t²+0.01 + 0.2t)
1/2gt² - 1/2gt² + 2 = 0.005 g + 0.1gt
2 = 0.005 * 10 + 0.1(10)t
2= 0.05 + t
2 - 0.05 = t
1.95 = t.

Therefore, The stone takes 1.95seconds to travel from roof to top of the window.

Now, We have to find The distance between roof and top of the window ( k)

k = 1/2(10)(t²)
k = 5t²
k = 5(1.95)²
k = 19.0125

Therefore, The height of the roof above the top of the window is 19.0125m

49.

A boy on a cliff 49m high drops a stone 1 second later he throws a second stone after the first they both hit the ground at same time with what speed did he throw the second stone

Answer»

For first stone

h = 49m
g = 9.8m/s²
t = ?
u = 0

apply
h = UT + gt²/2
49 = 0 + 9.8t²/2
t² = 10
t = √10 = 3.16s

for SECOND stone
t = 3.16 - 1 = 2.16s
h = 49m
g = 9.8m/s²
u = ?

again apply
h = ut + gt²/2
49 = u*2.16 + 9.8*2.16²/2
49 = 2.16*u + 22.86
26.14/2.16 = u
u = 12.10m/s
