Explain the relationship between sanitation and disease.

Answer»

Answer:

Sanitation and disease are related to each other as LACK of sanitation can cause DISEASES.

In our country, a large number of people EVEN today do not have sewerage facilities and thus defecate in open fields, railway tracks, etc. The untreated human excreta thus pollute soil and water sources including the underground water. When this contaminated water is used for drinking, it can cause diseases such as CHOLERA, typhoid, hepatitis, dysentery, etc. which may even lead to death.

24.

Who is a chromoplast?

Answer»

EXPLANATION:

Chromoplasts are plastids, heterogeneous organelles responsible for pigment synthesis and storage in specific photosynthetic eukaryotes.[1] It is thought that like all other plastids including chloroplasts and leucoplasts they are descended from SYMBIOTIC prokaryotes.

Chromoplasts are FOUND in fruits, flowers, roots, and stressed and aging leaves, and are responsible for their distinctive colors. This is always associated with a massive increase in the accumulation of carotenoid pigments. The conversion of chloroplasts to chromoplasts in ripening is a classic example.

They are generally found in MATURE tissues and are derived from preexisting mature plastids. Fruits and flowers are the most common structures for the biosynthesis of carotenoids, although other reactions occur there as well including the synthesis of sugars, starches, lipids, aromatic compounds, vitamins, and hormones.[3] The DNA in chloroplasts and chromoplasts is identical.[2] One subtle difference in DNA was found after a LIQUID chromatography analysis of tomato chromoplasts was conducted, revealing increased cytosine methylation.[3]

3. Use the table on the opposite page to help you answer this question. Cabar measuresthe soil pH on her farm. Its pH is 8.0. Cabar wants to grow onions. What type ofsubstance should she add to the soil so that its pH is suitable for growing onions?

Answer»

Answer:

Grow onions with the rich soil that has the proper pH level, and the only tears you'll shed will be tears of joy. Crunchy onions add flavor, but few calories, to just about everything, from stir fries to burgers. They're also rich in nutrients like vitamin C, fiber and manganese. Before planting onions, which are best suited for U.S. Department of Agriculture hardiness zones 3 through 9, put a little EXTRA time into creating great soil.

Onions and Soil pH

Onions, like most veggies, grow best in SLIGHTLY ACIDIC soil. Ideally, soil for onions should have a pH level of 5.5 to 6.5, according to the National Gardening Association. At the high end of this range, soil nutrients are most easily accessed. While onions can survive when grown at a different pH level, they won't grow particularly well. To determine soil pH before planting onions, use a store-bought testing kit or take have a sample checked at a university extension office.

Adjusting Soil pH

If soil isn't in the proper pH range for growing onions, it can be adjusted. Amending soil with organic substances, like old leaves, will lower its pH and increase its acidity. Some fertilizers, like ammonium sulfate, will also boost acidity. To make soil more alkaline, Iowa State University recommends treating it with wood ash, which raises pH. Adjusting the pH level of soil takes time, however, and might require multiple treatments until the desired outcome is achieved.

Additional Soil Requirements

Aside from the proper pH level, there are other soil-related factors affecting onions. Many types of soil are suitable for onions, but it needs to be loose and well-drained, as soggy, heavy soil firms up in the sun, making it difficult for onion bulbs to expand and grow. To prevent this problem, mix soil with humus to keep it light and properly drained. Organic matter, MIXED into soil, also helps it retain moisture, keeping the shallow roots of onions hydrated.

Answer»

Answer:

Immunization is the process whereby a person is made immune or resistant to an infectious disease, typically by the administration of a vaccine. VACCINES stimulate the body’s own immune system to protect the person against subsequent infection or disease.

This happens because when the immune system first sees an infectious microbe, it responds against it and then remembers it SPECIFICALLY. So the next time that particular microbe, or its close relatives enter the body, the immune system responds with even greater vigor. This eliminates the infection even more quickly than the first time AROUND. This is the BASIS of the principle of immunisation.

Estimate of space mission project

Answer»

The analogy approach in cost estimation combines actual cost data from similar existing systems, activiti es, or items with adjustments for a new project’s technical, physical or programmatic differences to derive a cost estimate for the new system. This method is normally used early in a project CYCLE when there is insufficient design/cost data to use as a ba sis for (or insufficient time to perform) a detailed engineering cost estimate. The major limitation of this method is that it relies on the judgment and experience of the analyst/estimator. The analyst MUST ensure that the best analogy or analogies have b een selected, and that appropriate adjustments have been made. While analogy COSTING is common, there is a dearth of advice in the literature on the “adjustment methodology”, especially for hardware projects. This paper DISCUSSES some potential approaches that can improve rigor and repeatability in the analogy costing process.
