Floating rocks in water (granite, pumice, marble, shale)

Answer»

Pumice floats on WATER because it has an INCREDIBLY low density due to the air bubbles inside of it. As it is blown out of a volcano (EXTRUSIVE igneous), and dissolved gasses exsolve and more air gets into it before it HARDENS into pumice. The less DENSE air offsets the more dense rock, causing it to float.

What is insulation breakdown??

Answer»

Industrial electrical heaters are prone to ground leakage due to the breakdown orInsulation Breakdown contamination of INSULATORS. The use of NK Technologies’ Ground Fault Sensors enables early detection of leakage Currents as small as 5mA. The on/off output of the sensor can be used to trigger a CIRCUIT interruption DEVICE (for example a shunt-trip breaker) or a monitoring device like a PLC to determine the required action. Latching and auto-reset models are available in both normally energized and normally de-energized configurations suitable for most applications.

Biodiversity is essential for ecosystem services and hence for human well-being. Biodiversity goes beyond the provisioning for material welfare and livelihoods to INCLUDE security, resiliency, social relations, health, and freedoms and choices. At the same TIME, however, these losses in biodiversity and associated changes in ecosystem services have caused other people to experience DECLINING well-being, with some social GROUPS being pushed into poverty

The word FILAMENT is from the Latin word FILUM, which means "thread." Filament, in FACT, can be a synonym for thread. Adaptions of mountains goats

Answer»

Well, I know of three adaptations. I LOVE MOUNTAIN GOATS!

Hello there!

Anyway, one of their adaptations is obviously their fur. They have thick fur that SHEDS sometime in the year (summer) that protects them from the cold because, well, they live in the mountains and higher altitudes equals lower temperatures because molecules and motion and other things. In addition, their bodies are rounded to conserve heat.

Another one of their adaptations are their feet, specifically their hooves. Their hooves are specially designed to grip the ground and they can TURN on a space the size of an envelope (I read that in one of those Canadian national parks)!

I think that their hooves have this little back bone that lets them grip the rock better or something. I forgot because it came from that same national park. I also saw a mountain GOAT while I was on this sky platform made of glass! Anyway, the point is, they have specially adapted hooves that allow them to grip surfaces better.

The LAST adaptation that they have to help them survive in their environment is their behavior. This at least protects them from predators. “Nannies” (MOTHER mountain goats) raise these

in the mountains/cliffs to protect them from animals like mountain lions and burrs. These herd animals are also adapted to jump really far and move really fast (at least for an animal in mountainous terrain) to escape those that hunt them. They live in non-permanent groups of about 100 goats. They don’t need much water, getting most of it from the foods that they eat, and their coats also camouflage them in their snowy environments.

I may have made a mistake somewhere. :(

MOUNTAIN GOATS ARE COOL

Match the following .A. Teflon 1. can be blown up into large foam containing air bubblesB. Polystyrene 2. easily moulded can be rolled into thin sheetsC. Polythene 3. tougher than polythene, can coated on clothD. PVC 4. has high melting point and very low friction

Answer»

Teflon => high melting point , very lowest FRICTION and non reactive.

polystyrene => very light, can be blow up to her LARGE foam containing air bubble , in this FORM it is known as STYROFOAM or thermocol.

polythene => easily moulded, can be rolled into sheet , strong and flexible.

PVC => tougher than polythene , can be coated on a cloth base.
