Menocchio, a miller In Italy, read a few books and interpreted the message of the bible and created a view of god and its creation. It infuriated the Roman Catholic Church. Himel Sarkar, I play with words.

Answered Dec 21, 2014

Originally Answered: If Indian girls want equality, why do we have reservations and quotas for them?

Because of many reasons.

Equality doesn't appear out of thin air. The effects of centuries of oppression (don't forget that less than hundred years ago, women were still being burnt at the PYRE) don't negate themselves by waving a wand and saying 'equalitus maximus' or whatever the charm may be. Today 9% of urban women have jobs. In DELHI. That's right. NINE. 26.6% of women over the AGE of 25 have secondary education. How are women supposed to pull themselves up? Are they supposed to rely on men? People who have SCREWED them over for generations? They need a platform to pull themselves up. And reservations provide that.
