Write a short note on "history of continent"?please anyone answer it. who is answering correct I will mark them has brainliest |
Answer» Answer: A continent is one of several very large landmasses. Generally identified by convention rather than any strict criteria, up to seven REGIONS are commonly regarded as continents. Ordered from largest in area to smallest, these seven regions are: Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia.[1] Variations with fewer continents may merge some of these, for EXAMPLE some systems include Eurasia or America as single continents. Geologically, the continents correspond to areas of continental crust that are FOUND on the continental plates, but include continental fragments such as Madagascar that are not commonly referred to as continents. Some geological continents are largely covered with water, such as Zealandia (see submerged continents below). Continental crust is only known to EXIST on Earth.[2] Oceanic islands are frequently grouped with a neighbouring continent to divide all the world's land into regions. Under this scheme, most of the island countries and territories in the Pacific Ocean are grouped together with the continent of Australia to form a region called Oceania. |

hope it works pls follow me and mark me BRAINLIST pls I'll follow you BACK don't hesitate to THANK me |

PactsofJallianwalaBaghmassacre |
Answer» Answer: The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, also known as the Amritsar massacre, took place on 13 April 1919, when Acting Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer ordered troops of the British INDIAN Army to fire their rifles into a crowd of unarmed Indian civilians[3] in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, Punjab, killing at least 379 people and injuring over 1,000 other people. Explanation: On Sunday, 13 April 1919, Dyer, convinced a major insurrection could take place, banned all meetings. This notice was not widely disseminated, and many villagers gathered in the Bagh to celebrate the important Indian festival of Baisakhi, and peacefully protest the arrest and deportation of two national leaders, Satyapal and Saifuddin Kitchlew. Dyer and his troops entered the garden, blocking the main entrance behind them, took up position on a raised bank, and with no WARNING opened fire on the crowd for about ten minutes, directing their bullets largely towards the few open GATES through which people were trying to flee, until the ammunition supply was almost exhausted. The following day Dyer stated in a report that "I have heard that between 200 and 300 of the crowd were killed. My party fired 1,650 rounds".[4][5] The Hunter Commission report published the following year by the Government of India criticised both Dyer personally and also the Government of the Punjab for failing to compile a detailed CASUALTY count, and quoted a figure offered by the Sewa Samati (a Social Services Society) of 379 identified dead,[1] and APPROXIMATELY 1,100 wounded, of which 192 were seriously injured.[6][7] The casualty number estimated by the Indian National Congress was more than 1,500 injured, with approximately 1,000 dead. Dyer was lauded for his actions by some in Britain, and indeed became a hero among many of those who were directly benefiting from the British Raj,[8] such as members of the House of Lords.[9] He was, however, widely denounced and criticised in the House of Commons, whose July 1920 committee of investigation censured him. Because he was a soldier acting on orders, he could not be tried for murder. The military chose not to bring him before a court-martial, and his only punishment was to be removed from his current appointment, turned down for a proposed promotion, and barred from further employment in India. Dyer subsequently retired from the army and returned to England, where he died, unrepentant about his actions, in 1927. |

suppose you are an employed plantation you are known by the number not by your name narrate your experience about the life of indentured labourer or plantation worker. |
Answer» Answer: The Indian indenture system was a system of indentured servitude, by which 2 million Indians[1] were transported to labour in European colonies, as a substitute for slave labour, following the abolition of the trade in the early 19th century. The system expanded after the abolition of SLAVERY in the British Empire in 1833,[2] in the French colonies in 1848, and in the Dutch Empire in 1863. Indian indentureship lasted till the 1920s. This resulted in the development of a large Indian diaspora in the CARIBBEAN,[3] Natal (South Africa), Réunion, Mauritius, Sri Lanka,[4] Malaysia,[5] Myanmar, to Fiji, as well as the growth of Indo-Caribbean, Indo-African, Indo-Fijian, Indo-Malaysian, and Indo-Singaporean populations. Contents First indenture Edit On 18 JANUARY 1826, the Government of the French Indian Ocean island of Réunion laid down terms for the introduction of Indian labourers to the colony. Each man was required to appear before a magistrate and declare that he was going voluntarily. This agreement is known as girmit[6] and it outlined a period of five years labour in the colonies with pay of ₹8 (11¢ US) per month and RATIONS, provided labourers had been transported from Pondicherry and Karaikal. The first ATTEMPT at importing Indian labour into Mauritius, in 1829, ended in failure, but by 1838, 25,000 Indian labourers had been shipped to Mauritius. The Indian indenture system was put in place initially at the behest of sugar planters in colonial territories, who hoped the system would provide reliable cheap labour similar to the conditions under slavery.[7] The new system was expected to demonstrate the superiority of "free" over slave labour in the production of tropical products for imperial markets.[8] |
