tion:UNESCO’s Multi-Discipline Efforts at Attaining PeaceIntroductionThe United Nations EDUCATIONAL, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is an agency of the United Nations (UN) that AIMS to promote global peace through advancements in a variety of disciplines. Although it has a wide variety of programs, its efforts at promoting peace through the areas of bioethics, health, music and the arts, literacy, and HIV/AIDS education and prevention are of particular significance. This report will describe UNESCO’s involvement and achievements in each of these disciplines. The General Conference and Structure of UNESCO UNESCO’s structure plays an important role in its effectiveness worldwide. Currently, UNESCO is a conglomeration of 195 member states, with Pakistan being the most recent to join. Since its initial organization on November 20, 1946, its member states have met once every two years for a three-week convention during which issues important to the agency are discussed and plans for the next two years are laid. Specific budgets and objectives are also discussed. Once consensus is attained, the Director-General, an individual elected every four years by the representatives of the member states, works to implement the decisions and selects a team of civil servants who have the training and capability to ASSIST in meeting the planned objectives around the world. The UNESCO meetings usually occur in Paris, one of the organization’s two headquarters. The committees and sub-level organizations within the General Conference that also work to implement UNESCO’s plans include the plenary meeting of delegation heads; the subsidiary bodies, which are composed of a chairperson, four vice-vhairpersons, and a rapporteur, along with staff; and, finally, the four statutory committees, that is, the credentials, legal, nominations, and headquarters committees (Henk 23; Pohle). The Expanding Scope of UNESCO’s EffortsThe expansion of UNESCO’s outreach scope is an example of what happens when many heterogeneous parts of an organization come together to address the needs facing each part. UNESCO’s constitution specifies that the organization should work in the areas of education, science, and culture. The initial focus of its efforts was on promoting global education through the building and expansion of schools, libraries, MUSEUMS, and other academic institutions by facilitating the processes necessary to start and maintain them, and many of UNESCO’s early efforts were intended to encourage the free and open sharing of knowledge and ideas. These efforts were INITIALLY more facilitative than anything, but this would change in future committee meetings. As the populations affected by and represented in UNESCO memberships changed, so too did the scope of UNESCO’s efforts. During the 1950s more less-developed countries gained membership, and the issues they faced became of more importance. These included topics such as illiteracy, poverty, and the lack of development and infrastructure. This expansion and change in focus did not occur without contention, and the organization criticized by some of its Western members for its supposed “anti-Western approach to cultural issues” (Mingst). Indeed, the chasm was strong enough that the United States, Singapore, and the United Kingdom all withdrew their membership during the 1980s. However, despite these difficulties, all three members rejoined following the 1997 rise of the Labour Party. As the makeup of UNESCO has expanded, so too has the scope of its outreach efforts. UNESCO is now involved in education and science programs, human rights initiatives, the promotion of art and music, biomedical ethics, and many more widespread initiatives.hope it will help you mark me as brilliant

Why the people of kudankulam started agitation against the government

Answer»

of kudankulam started agitation against the governmentExplanation:Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KKNP), is the biggest  nuclear power station in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. Construction on the plant started  on 31st March 2002, however it faced MANY DELAYS because of opposition from local villagers The 13,000-crore Indo-Russian JV has been vehemently opposed by villagers in Nagercoil, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari districts, especially  after the Fukushima nuclear disaster  that took place in Japan, which was one of the most severe nuclear accident In 2011, thousands demonstrated against it in the aftermath of a Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster and worried that  in the event of a nuclear disaster, it may not be possible to evacuate people immediately. The protestors stated that since nuclear power plants are prone to natural disasters and no one cannot predict their happening/occurrence,  they fear that the govt cannot EFFECTIVELY deal with a nuclear disasterMoreover in setting up the plant villages feared they would be displaced  along with having to deal with radioactive poison. The protestors fear the KKNPP is going to DUMP the coolant water and low-grade waste into the sea, that will have  a severe  impact on the production and catching of fish. The fisheries industry will be undermined, and this will push the fishermen into deeper and more poverty, thus affecting food security for the whole of South Tamil NaduFurther the protestors state that even when the KKNP projects operate normally without any accidents/incidents, the plant would emit other harmful chemical and radioactive particles into the air, crops, land, sea, cattle, ground water, and seafood. As it is the southern coastal belt is has high prevalence of cancer, down syndrome, mental retardation, and defective births because of government and private sand-sea mining for rare minerals together with thorium. The KKNP project would add several more distresses to the ALREADY suffering people.

What is human life and it's benefits

Answer»

RG RatnawatPeople’s value SYSTEM comprises both sets of values—terminal and instrumental—which are developed and reinforced through the culture in which they grow on one side and the environment on the other. Socialisation from parents, religious institutions, friends, personal experiences, and society contribute to the formation of values in individuals. The individual values are affected by our belief system, prevailing social systems, and to some extent socio- economic conditions. The terminal values are formed over the years, whereas the instrumental values are determined by situations. Why is it important to know about values?Knowing our values helps us achieve clarity regarding why we do what we do, and accordingly STAY on track and live a consistent life. All our actions and decisions are affected by our values. Anthony Robins, in his book titled Awaken the Giant Within states that values guide our decision and, therefore, our destiny. Those who know their values and live by them become the leaders of our society. Knowing our values helps us design our life goals since we know what is most important for us today and on an ongoing basis. Values are as important as competencies to achieve our goals. Knowing others’ values is equally important to understand their behaviour and the causes behind it. We can also understand their decision making by understanding their values. While terminal values provide us a sense of fulfilment, richness, and reward, the instrumental or temporary values provide us a direction to achieve our life goals sticking to the terminal values. How to identify our values? The simplest method to identify our values and that of others is to prepare a list of what is most important to us, both personally and professionally. Then, these can be segregated into terminal values and instrumental values. It is worth periodically repeating this exercise since the instrumental values keep changing. The best time to review our values is the time when we review our goals. Is it possible to form / change values? If yes, how?Yes, it is possible to decide a SET of values, especially terminal values and live with them. The only thing it needs is a STRONG commitment to our goals and the actions involved to achieve these goals. Living with permanent values means going to any extent to follow these values without BOTHERING about the consequences. If speaking the truth is our value and by speaking the truth if we invite some trouble, so be it. The process of adopting values involves moving towards those values. Similarly, it is also important to identify the values that guide us in moving away from the experiences that we want to avoid. This process is basically moving away from undesirable values or changing the undesirable values. Are values relevant at the workplace?Yes, clarity about our values is helpful at any stage of life, including working life since values guide our actions and behaviour that decide our destiny. If you have a set of values, your chances of getting a job, especially in organisations that value your values, become high. The individual’s values are a good predictor of her/his behaviour in the workplace. Hence, the organisations would certainly prefer a candidate with clarity about her/ his values, in addition to the required competencies. While in a job, your values guide your behaviour, which ultimately builds your brand over time. The values especially help us make decisions when we have a dilemma. We simply need to ask ourselves, ‘What is important for us in the given situation?’, in other words what is our value? However, there is a disconnect between the values and the day-to-day behaviour of people in the real world. Most people are likely to follow their values on a day-to-day basis if they are reminded of them. The organisations, therefore, need to periodically remind the employees of the organisational and individual values through relevant activities and programmes.Final word: Since values are as important as competencies, it is worth mentioning our values in our CV. Organisations can mention ‘expected values’ in the job description or competency profile to ensure better hiring decisions.

What do you think about the Indian army and their family........do they really sacrifice their lives for us....

Answer»

The infusion of high technology based precision weaponry has enhanced the lethality of future warfare manifold. The spectrum of threat ranges from the nuclear to the conventional and the assymetric, with terrorism emerging like a hydra-headed monster. Add to this the rigours of climate i.e. the glacial heights and extreme cold, dense mountainous jungles and the heat and simoom of the deserts. Such are the trying environs in which a soldier operates. However, to a soldier FACING such challenges and GOING beyond the call of DUTY is but second nature. Life's turbulences and turmoils have a special flavour for him. For those not exposed to a war or war like environment, this flavour is beyond the realms of imagination. The Indian Army soldier is infused by a set of values that make the soldier willingly face a plethora of challenges and difficulties.PLEASE MARK MY ANSWER BRAINLIEST

.What lead to the rise in a group of ‘new rural elites’ after the green revolution period?.(2)

Answer»

en Revolution in India refers to a period when Indian agriculture was converted into an industrial system due to the adoption of modern methods and technology such as the use of high yielding variety (HYV) seeds, tractors, irrigation facilities, pesticides, and fertilizers. It was mainly found by M.S. Swaminathan. This was part of the larger Green revolution endeavor initiated by Norman Borlaug, which leveraged agricultural research and technology to increase agricultural productivity in the developing world.[2]Under premiership of Congress leader Lal Bahadur Shastri,[3][4][5] the Green Revolution within India commenced in 1965 that led to an increase in food grain production, especially in Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Major milestones in this undertaking were the development of high-yielding varieties of wheat,[6] and rust resistant strains of wheat.[7][8] However, agricultural scientists like M.S. Swaminathan [9]and social activists like Vandana Shiva are of the opinion that it caused GREATER long TERM sociological and financial problems for the people of Punjab and Haryana.[10]However it proved to be a useful measure and was pioneer in helping the then Indian Government to independently produce necessary crops in her own country instead of depending on foreign exports and whose policies were often misused by the foreign nations to BLACKMAIL India to serve their own POLITICAL purpose and get dominated by those nations.[11]

How does India exibhit Unity of diversity
