Explain the major orgument against democracy demerits

Answer» Democracy is better than any other form of government. It gives equal rights and freedom to every individual. But then also, it has some demerits. Following are the demerits of democracy\tUnstable government:\xa0Thereare\xa0lots\xa0of political parties in a democracy that are allowed to criticise the government and its policies. Sometimes, it leads to the downfall of the ruling party and re-elections in the country. This gives instability to the government. Most of the times no party gets a majority and coalition government is formed, this leads to uncertainty.\tSlow and inefficient government:\xa0Democracy is slow in its functioning. The decision-making process involves long debates and deliberations in Parliament. This takes a lot of time before the decisions are actually taken.\t\xa0Incompetence Democracy allows every individual to voice his concern. As a result, everybody focusses on his personal interests and not the collective interests which sometimes leads to incompetent and wrong selections of the candidates in the government.\tRole of money and muscle power in a democracy: Money plays an important role at the time of the elections. A lot of money is needed to organise demonstrations, public meetings and speeches hence the candidates who can raise a lot of money for the party, are given party tickets. Also, candidates with criminal connections sideline the eligible candidates.\tNoscopeformorality: In democracy elections are all about power play and competition so candidates use dirty tricks to win.

Why is the difference between Kashmir and kanyakumari in day and night changes are felt hardly

Answer» Thanks
The day and night are nearly of the same duration at the equator. As Kanyakumari is quite near the equator at 8°4\'N the day-night difference is hardly one hour there, and therefore, the duration of day and night is hardly felt at Kanyakumari. On the other hand, as we move away from the equator to the poles the variations in duration of day and night become greater. Kashmir is over 30° away from the equator and so the difference in duration of day and night is more there and we feel that difference.

Mention the significance of northern plains of India

Answer» \tThe Northern Plains have been formed from the alluvium that the mountain rivers deposited here. This turned the soil on the surfaced land fertile for growing a rich harvest of a variety of crops. This led to the development of the Indus River Valley Civilisation.\tThe rich soil was further aided by favourable climate and constant water supply from the rivers. Between the mouths of the Indus and the Ganga-Brahmaputra, the North Indian Plain covers a distance of 3200 km. It is 300 to 150 km wide in some places.\tThe North Indian Plains have the Indus river system in the west and the Ganga-Brahmaputra river system in the east. The first includes Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, Satluj. The Indus flows into the Arabian Sea. The second includes Ganga, its tributaries and the Brahmaputra which combine as Meghna as they drain into the Bay of Bengal.\tThey form the world’s largest and fastest growing delta. The difference in relief has led the North Indian Plains to be divided into four zones: (i) Bhabhar, (ii) Tarai, (iii) Bangar and (iv) Khadar.
