1. An iron pillar consists of a cylindrical portion of 2.8 m height and 20 cm in diameter anda cone of 42 cm height surmounting it. Find the weight of the pillar if 1 cm'ofiron weighs7.5 g.

Answer»

Given :-

★ Diameter of cylinder = 20 cm

HEIGHT of cylinder = 2.8 m

★ Height of cone = 42 cm

To Find :-

Weight of pillar

Solution :-

Here,

Height of cylinder

= 2.8 m

= 280 cm

We KNOW,

_______________

1 m = 100 cm

_______________

Radius of cylinder

= 20/2 cm

=10 cm

We know,

Volume of pillar = πr²( h + 1/3 H)

Substituting the values, we get ___

Volume of pillar

= 2200/7 × ( 280 +14)

= 92400 cm cube

Hence,

the weight of pillar ___

= (92400 × 7.5) /1000

= 693 kg

So, the weight of pillar is 693 kg.
