Some of the commonly used alloys and their composition are:

(i) brasscopper with up to 50% zinc Uses: inexpensive jewellery; hose nozzles and couplings; piping; stamping dies

(ii) Nichrome (nickel: 80-85%, chromium: 15-20%) Uses: heating elements in toasters, electric heaters, etc.

(iii) solder (lead: 50%, tin: 50%) Uses: joining two metals to each other
