Used historically for weaponry before we figured out how to add carbon to it.Pig iron has a high carbon content and is an intermediate product for making steal.Wrought iron is iron with a low carbon content, it was used in place of steel before steel became available but is now used in the steel making process.Cast iron is iron that has been shaped by being poured into a cast. Uses include pots and pans etc.Steel is iron mixed with carbon which increases strength and makes it less brittle. This is used for construction among other things. |
