2. What information do you get from principal quantum number? |

Answer» Principle quantum number (nn)- indicates the orbital size. Electrons in atoms reside in atomic orbitals. These are referred to ass,p,d,f..type orbitals. A1sorbital is smaller than a2s orbital. A2porbital is smaller than a3p orbital. This is because orbitals with a largernvalue are getting larger due to the fact that they are further away from the nucleus. The principle quantum number is an integer value wherenn= 1,2,3... . |
