Answer» Arjuna Award: The award was was instituted in 1961. It is given by Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. It is bestowed upon sportsperson in recognition of their outstanding achievement in National sports. The award carries bronze statuette of Arjuna, a scroll and a monetary award of 5 lakh rupees. The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awards holds the highest honour in India and is awarded to those who make the country proud on the international platform. It is named after Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime minister, who served from 1984-1989. It was instituted in 1991-92 and the first recipient of this award was chess grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand. It is awarded annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Dronacharya Awards, instituted in 1985, are given to honour eminent Coaches who have successfully trained sportspersons or teams and enabled them to achieve outstanding results in International competitions. |
