A. Find the remainder when 2x² – 3x + 5 is divided by 2x-3. Does it exactly divide thepolynomial ? State reason.

Answer»

Answer:

Using remainder theoram:-

2x-3

=f-(x)

x =  \frac{3}{2}

SUBSTITUTING x in the equation:-

2x² – 3x + 5

2 \times (  { \frac{3}{2} )}^{2}   - 3 \times  \frac{3}{2}  + 5

= 2 \times  \frac{9}{4}  -  \frac{9}{2}  + 5

=  \frac{9}{2}  -  \frac{9}{2}  + 5

=0+5

5

Remainder=5

No, it does not DIVIDE the POLYNOMIAL as remainder is 5 and for for exact division remainder should be 0 but it's 5 so 2x-3 does not divide 2x² – 3x + 5.
