A force of 100 N acts on an object of mass 10 kg for 9 sec. Ifthe object was initiallymoving with the speed of 10 m/s, calculate the initial and final kinetic energy of the object.By what factor does the kinetic energy increase?14]

Answer»

Acceleration = F/m = 100/10= 10 m/sec^2

Final velocity v = u + at = 10 + 10*9 = 100 m/sec

Initial Kinectic energy = 1/2mu^2 = 5*10*10 = 500 J

Final Kinectic energy= 1/2mv^2 = 5*100*100 = 50000 J

Change in Kinectic energy = 50000 - 500= 49500 J= 49.5 KJ
