A function f is defined as f(x) = 5 – x for 0 ≤ x ≤ 4. Find the values of x such that(i) f(x) = 3(ii) f(x) = 5

Answer»

(i) f(x) = 3

∴ 5 – x = 3

∴ x = 5 – 3 = 2

(ii) f(x) = 5

∴ 5 – x = 5

∴ x = 0
