1.

A pillar of height 30 metre and a tower lies onthe same base. The angle of depression ofthe bottom of the tower from the top of thepillar is 30° and the angle of elevation of thetop of the tower from the bottom of the pillaris 60°. Find the height of the tower and thedistance between the tower and the pillar.

Answer»

ANSWER

Let H= height of SECOND tower, d=distance between TWO towers

height of first tower = 30 m

From given data,

\frac{30}{d }= tan60 =  \sqrt{3}

\frac{h}{d}  = tan30 =  \frac{1}{ \sqrt{3} }

\sqrt{3} h = d

30 = d \sqrt{3}

h = 10m

d = 10 \sqrt{3}m

THEREFORE, height of the other tower is 10 m.
