a rectangular piece of paper has a width of 16 inches and an area of 192 square inches. What is its length?

Answer»

ANSWER:

Given,

WIDTH of RECTANGULAR piece of paper = 16inches

Area of Rectangular piece of paper = 192square inches.

i.e

Area of Rectangular piece of paper = \sf 192inches^{2}

To FIND :-

Length of Rectangular piece of paper.

Solution :-

Let,

Width of Rectangular piece of paper be 'b'

Length of Rectangular piece of paper be 'l'

Area of Rectangular piece of paper be 'A'

Area of Rectangular piece of paper = length *breadth

i.e

A = \sf length\times breadth

SUBSTITUTING values :-

\sf 192inches^{2} = l\times 16inches

\sf\implies l = \dfrac{192inches^{2}}{16inches}

l = 12inches.

\sf\therefore 16\: cancel\: of\: 192\: by\:12times

\sf\therefore Length of Rectangular piece of paper = l = 12inches
