A solid X floats on water, but sinks in another liquid. And x solid Y floats on water but also floats on another liquid. A solid Z sinks both in water and also in another liquid Draw a comparison among the densities of X,Y and Z. and justify.

Answer»

Solution :Since X floats on water, the density of X is less than the density of water. But the density of X in more than that of the other liquid. Solid Y floats on water and ALSO in ANOTHER liquid. That MEANS solid Y has lesser density than the other liquid also which implies that solid Y has lesser density than solid X, Z sinks in water and also in another liquid as well. which means that Z. has GREATER density than both the liquids and it is denser tan the SOLIDS X and Y. the order of densities of X,Y and Z is `ZgtXgtY`.
