Hence , rusting doesn ' t take place. In caseII, boiled water is taken which is DEVOID of oxygen . the layer of oil on the surface of water prevents enrty of air into the test tube . therefore, rusting is prevented in this. Air(oxygen) andwater / moisture are ESSENTIAL for rusting to take place.
