Answer» Answer: As long as greed is grater than compassion there will always be suffering - this SENTENCE can be justified from Phoebe Cary's poem 'The LEGEND of the northland'. The little woman, who was greedy, refused to give saint peter, who had fasted for a day and was nearly fainting, even a small piece of cake. To her, it seemed that her cakes were too small to eat herself, but too large to give away. She was too greedy to give even a small piece of cake to a hungry, starving MAN. Thus, this angered saint peter, and he cursed her to suffer as a woodpecker, boring and WORKING hard for FOOD. |
