It was a place of his CHILDHOOD memories, where he wanted spend his life in peace and solitude. This makes the readers ALSO have desire to GO to such a place which is away form the hassle of city life. Everyone wishes to have a convenient life, where they could relax and nobody could bother them. I, myself living in a city feel that the nuisance of city life is taking people away from themselves.
