Calculate the voltage across the capacitor at t=0.(a) 0V(b) 10V(c) 20V(d) InfinityThis question was addressed to me by my school principal while I was bunking the class. This interesting question is from Transients in CR Networks topic in chapter Capacitance and Capacitors of Basic Electrical Engineering

Answer»

Right choice is (a) 0V

To elaborate: When the switch is closed at t=0, the capacitor has no VOLTAGE across it since it has not been charged. The capacitor acts as a SHORT CIRCUIT and the voltage across it is ZERO.
