Swami’s granny and his mother were after all tender hearten women. They had a soft corner for him. They knew that Swami feared to sleep alone in darkness. He used to sleep beside his granny every night. When his father pulled out Swami’s blanket, his granny pleaded not to disturb his sleep. Swami’s mother also requested her husband to let him sleep in the hall instead of the dark office room. Swami’s father didn’t listen to their pleadings. Swami was made to sleep all alone in the office room. However, his mother and granny did win in the end. When Swami’s father protested against his sleeping with his granny again, his mother lost her temper. She told her husband frankly that he couldn’t risk his life again. He must be allowed to sleep where he liked.

स्वामी की दादी तथा माँ कोमल स्वभाव की थीं। उनके दिल में स्वामी के प्रति स्नेह था। वे जानती थीं कि स्वामी को अंधेरे में अकेले सोने में डर लगता है। वह प्रत्येक दिन रात में अपनी दादी के बगल में सोता था। जब उसके पिता ने उसके कंबल को छीना उसकी दादी ने उससे अनुरोध किया कि स्वामी को तंग न करे। स्वामी की माँ ने भी अपने पति से अनुरोध किया कि वे कार्यालय कक्ष के बजाय हॉल में सोने दें। लेकिन स्वामी के पिता ने उनके आग्रह को ठुकरा दिया। स्वामी को अकेले कार्यालय कक्ष में सोना पड़ा। तथापि, अंत में स्वामी भी माँ तथा उसकी दादी की जीत हुई। जब स्वामी को दुबारा अपनी दादी के पास सोता देखकर उसके पिता ने विरोध जतलाया, तो उसकी माँ ने अपना आपा खो दिया। उसने अपने पति से स्पष्ट रूप से कहा कि वह उसके जीवन के साथ दुबारा खिलवाड़ नहीं कर सकते। उसे जहाँ चाहे, सोने की अनुमति देनी चाहिए।
