Differentiate between "minerals" and "ores". |
|
Answer» Solution :The naturally occuring chemical substances in which metals occur in the native or combined state are called MINERALS. Minerals are obtained through mining. The minerals that are VIABLE to be used as a source of the metal are called ores. All ores are minerals but all minerals are not ore. For example : Bauxite `(Al_2O_3 cdot xH_2O)` and clay `(Al_2O_3cdot2SiO_2.2H_2O`) are minerals of aluminium. HOWEVER, aluminium is EXTRACTED from bauxite. Thus bauxite is an ore of ALUMINUM. |
