Diffraction phenomenon is common in sound but not common in light. Why is it so? |
| Answer» Solution :Basic condition for diffraction to take place is that of the SIZE of the obstacle/ aperture shoud be of the ORDER of wavelength of waves used. For sound wavelength is LARGE and we get OBSTACLES of large size easily. Hence difraction is common in sound. In the CASE of light, wavelength is very small and small size obstacle is not available easily.Hence diffraction is not common in light. | |
