Answer» When the INCIDENT PRESSURE is positive on a prepolarized microphone, the VOLTAGE output should be positive. Externally polarized microphones are 180 degrees out of phase with prepolarized microphones due to where the CHARGE is stored. On an externally polarized microphone the voltage output will be negative when the incident pressure is positive. When the incident pressure is positive on a prepolarized microphone, the voltage output should be positive.
