1.

Does the photoelectric emission take place due to incidence of visible light and ultraviolet rays on the surfaces of different types of metal in our everyday experience?

Answer»

Solution :Yes, the photoelectric emission does take place. But in absence of any positively charged COLLECTOR, the emitted photoelectrons accumulate on themetal surface and make a LAYER of negative charges. Within a very short SPAN of TIME, the emission of photoelectrons COMES to a stop due to the repulsion of the negatively charged layer. Hence the photoelectric emission stops after a while.
