Draw neat and labelled diagram of Besemer converter used in the extraction of copper.

Answer»

Solution :Bessemer converter used in extraction of copper :
Copper METAL is extracted from molten matte through bessemerisation. The matte is introduced into bessemer converter which uphold by tuyeres.
The air is blown through the molten matte. BLAST of air converts `Cu_(2)S` partly into `Cu_(2)O` which reacts with remaining `Cu_(2)S` to give molten copper.

`2Cu_(2)S+3O_(2)to2Cu_(2)O+2SO_(2)`
`2Cu_(2)O+Cu_(2)Sto6Cu+SO_(2)`
The copper so obtained is called ''Blister copper'' because as it SOLIDIFIES, `SO_(2)` hidden in it escapes out as bubbles producing blister on its surfaces. The blister copper is `99%` pure.
