Example 9: A box is made of wood with its externaldimensions of 50 cm x 24 cm x 12 cm and thicknesof 2 cm. What is the storage capacity of the woodenbox and how much wood was used to make it?Solution

Answer»

ANSWER:

Given that,

LENGTH(L)=50cm

breadth(b)=24cm

width or height (H)=12cm

=12-2=10cm

volume of the cuboid=b×h

volume of cuboid=50×24×10

=12000cm³

therefore the capacity of the box=12000cm³

volume of the cuboid=50×24×12

=14400cm³

the wood USED for making the box=14400-12000

=2400cm³
