Answer» 1. Dark coloured bottles interrupt the path of light such that light cannot reach silver chloride in the bottles and its decomposition is prevented. It is known that silver chloride decomposes to silver and chlorine in the presence of light. 2. When food is damaged in such a way that it becomes unfit for consumption by human beings is called rancidity. When edible oils are stored for a longer period of time then oxidation occurs. There is carbon-carbon double bonds in fats and oils which are broken down by the oxygen in the free space or atmosphere. As a result, after a long period of time fats and oils become rancid. why do silver ornaments loose their shine when kept for some time |
