Leadership presupposes existence of followers. There can’t be a leader without followers. The essence of leadership in followership. It is the willingness of people to follow, that makes a person a leader. Leadership can be done only when there is a group of subordinates or followers.
Leadership may be formal and informal. Though the manager holds a formal position in the organisation, but sometimes, he has to initiate informal leadership also.
Leadership is the art of influencing and inspiring people to work towards an objective. Influencing means regulating and changing behaviours, attitude, feeling, opinion of others. |
