Heat of neutralisation is the change in enthalpy produced when one gram equivalent weight of an acid is neutralised by one gram equivalent weight of a base in dilute solution. 

Example : HCl(aq) + NaOH(aq) → NaCl(aq) + H2O;= ΔH – 57.3 kJ
