Answer» Solution :(i) Reimer - Tiemann reaction : On treating phenol with chloroform in the PRESENCE of sodium hydroxide, a `-CHO` group is INTRODUCED at the ortho POSITION in benzene ring.  (ii) Friedel - Crafts. acetylation of anisole: Anisole undergoes Friedel - Crafts. acetylation on treatment with `CH_(3)COCl` in the presence of anhydrous aluminium chloride.
