Answer» Solution :(i) Antibiotics : Antibiotics are used as drugs to treat INFECTIONS because of their LOW toxicity for humans and ANIMALS. These substances in low concentration inhibit the growth or destroy micro-organisms, e.g., penicillin. (ii) Antiseptics : These substances are APPLIED to living tissues, such as wounds, cuts, ulcers. e.g., soframycin. (iii) Analgesics : They reduce or abolish pain without causing impairment of CONSCIOUSNESS, mental confusion or paralysis. e.g., aspirin. |
