1.	Explain the meaning of the statement 'Adsorption is a surface phenomenon'.
Answer» SOLUTION :When a solid ADSORBENT is PLACED in a closed vessel CONTAINING some gas or a solution, the molecules of the gas or the solute are adsorbed on the surface so that their CONCENTRATION is higher on the surface. Hence, it is called a surface phenomenon.
