Explain the variation in metallic and non-metallic character of group 15 elements. |

Answer» Solution :(i) Down the group, from N to Bi, non1netallic character DECREASES due to GRADUAL increase in atomic size, gradual decrease in ionisation enthalpy and the increase in ELECTROPOSITIVE character of the ELEMENTS. (II) N and Pare non-metals, As and Sb are rnetalloids while Bi is metal. Thus group 15 elements include all types of elements. |
