Explain why aniline is less basic than methylamine? |

Answer» Solution :(i) The lone pair of elctrons on the nitrogen atom of aniline is INVOLVED in RESONANCE and not avilable for donation to protons. (ii) Protonation BECOMES difficult. (iii) So aniline is a weaker base than methylamine. |
