FeCl_(3) is known but not Fel_(3) Why? |
| Answer» Solution :`I^(-)` is a strong REDUCING agent, it reduces `Fe^(3+)` to `Fe^(2+) (or) Fe^(3+)`can oxidise `I^(-)` to `I_(2)`but not `CL^(-)` to `Cl_(2).2Fe^(3+)+2I^(-)rarr 2Fe^(2+)+I_(2)`. THUS `FeCl_(3)` is KNOWN but not `Fel_(2)`. | |
