Find 11th term of the AP-3,-1/2,2

Answer»

Given :-

  • First term (a) = -3

  • Common difference (d) = -1/2 - (-3) = -1/2 + 3 = -1 + 6/2 = 5/2

  • n = 11

To find :-

  • 11th term of AP = ?

Solution :-

By USING formula of an,

we KNOW that,

\blue{\bigstar}\:\:{\underline{\boxed{\bf\red{a_n=a+(n-1)d}}}}

\rm\longrightarrow\:a_n=-3+(11-1)\times\dfrac{5}{2}

\rm\longrightarrow\:a_n=-3+10\times\dfrac{5}{2}

\rm\longrightarrow\:a_n=-3+5\times{5}

\rm\longrightarrow\:a_n=-3+25

\rm\longrightarrow\:a_n=22

Hence,the 11th term of AP will be 22,

Formula to find Sn :-

Sn = n/2 [2A + (n - 1)d]

AP :- A sequence in which each term differs from its preceding term by a constant is called an ARITHMETIC progression or AP.

  • This Constant is called the common difference of the AP.
