Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 x (length + breadth)

= 2x[(5x + 4)+(x – 4)]

= 2[5x + 4 + x – 4]

= 2(6x)

= 12x

By problem, 12x = 72

x = 72/12 (transposing x 12)

x = 6

∴ Length of the rectangle = 5x + 4 = 5 x 6.4 = 34cm

Breadth of the rectangle = x – 4 = 6 – 4 = 2cm
