Find the values of x and y from given parallelogram ABCD.

Answer»

Since opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal in lengths, therefore

3x + 1 = 16

⇒ 3x = 16 – 1

⇒ 3x = 15

⇒ x = 5 cm.

5y – 6 = 24

⇒ 5y = 24 + 6

⇒ 5y = 30

⇒ y = 6 cm.
